just read this article, and I would be curious to hear the thoughts of anybody on here who claims to be an atheist.
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/03/09/ath...latestnews
I know what the people who are Christian would say, but I'm curious how common this view is among atheists. Does it really bother you that a cross is in a museum? And to parlay off of this, do you have similar views of stories of the ten commandments being in front of government offices, or the story of the atheist group that wants a cross removed from a military graveyard/memorial?

One thing you have to remember about articles like this: Fox News (and really news sources in general) seek out the most dumb*** people to get their views and such.
I doubt about 99% of Athiests out there (or agnostics, even) care that there is a cross in the museum. Most see it for what it is: a symbol of comfort and hope after the horrific terrorist attack. (yeah, I totally borrowed that from the article. LITERAL copy and paste job).
It's just like when Agnostics/Athiests point to the freaks at Westboro to show the "ills of Christianity."

I figured this is probably the case, but was still curious to hear about the views from other atheists.

I'm not an atheist (I tend to call myself an agnostic Christian, if you're keeping score or want something to make fun of me about), but I would also bet that most atheists aren't too concerned with the placement of the cross in the history museum. With the way it's presented in the article, anyway...which may or may not be true (the exhibit might have religious overtones that could be truly offensive to an athiest).
I do think this is different from having the ten commandments in front of government offices. In the absence of other historical documents, that definitely gives the impression of government favoring one religion over all others, which shouldn't happen IMO...

I don't consider myself an atheist, but I don't believe in organized religion either...that story doesn't bother me one bit...it's a cross, they should be able to put it up.
