The state of Kentucky officially recognizes gay marriages, will start growing hemp, and has a number of measures to legalize medical marijuana.

It's not Kentucky forcing gay marriage and all states have a "number of measures" to legalize medical marijuana.

I know it was a activist judge appointed by Mitch Mcconnel that made the ruling. Still not sure why so many are on a crusade to deny people civil rights. Sure it is gross but who am I to say what other people do with themselves. And I thought separation of church and state was a done deal..

I don't care what they do to themselves either, but they have civil unions, why the sudden push and cry for marriage?

I know. I feel the same way every time I hear about slavery or the injustice to Indians.

Funny you should mention that. If it wasn't for the government forcing them to do it, we may still have those injustices.

And oddly enough, up until the government put an end to it they fully allowed it. Most of the early presidents had slaves.

Do you think we would still have slaves today if government hadn't stepped in and stopped it? Serious question.

No. I think if the Union had lost, the South would have kept slavery at least until the mid 20th century, and then they would have had segregation until the 80's and then they would have finally buckled under the pressure like South Africa.

Yes and the states in the Confederate States of America all wanted to preserve the institution of slavery.

Mark my words this will be no diffrent than segregation of the 60s in fifty years. That being said I think it is gross and unatural. But my opinion is not what is right.

Slavery didn't used to be about race. Throughout history, different peoples have enslaved different people regardless of race.

United States history however is unique in that they made slaves of only black people.

That is where the white American is at fault. They made slavery about race.

Dude, I'm part of white America. I didn't own any slaves, my ancestors didn't own any slaves, shoot, none of my ancestors were even in this country when slavery was legal. How is any part of slavery my fault and why should I feel guilty about it? Do you still hold a grudge against the Japs for bombing us?

You're trying to make me ashamed over something no one in my family had anything to do with.

This country made a mistake and fixed it. By throwing past mistakes in my face you are beginning to sound like my wife.

I'm not talking about you. Obviously no one living today owned slaves. It is undeniable however that our country is still feeling the effects of slavery. Until all races in this country are truly equal, we are always going to have to deal with it.

Not entirely. But blacks can't wash their hands entirely from the matter. It's historical fact that blacks sold blacks back in the day. We can't just simply choose to ignore certain historical time periods.
