Nope. See? You still aren't doing it right.
What gets you your mancard? Not what are you otherwise obsessed with what others do that may deny theirs.
This is about your getting it done. Whining about others isn't getting it done. This can't be that tough, can it?
Two things off the top of my head:
I've overhauled my car's engine
I have a lot of construction experience (building/renovating houses)
You believe in man made global warming which negates your man card, sir.
You're really bad at coming up with manliness criteria. Try this:
Loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage.
Those are good values by which you could measure the worth of a man. If you think global warming has anything to do with those values, you're a fool.
I also get my haircuts at a place called a barbershop. It is staffed by 6 "barbers" not stylists or "hairdressers" and they are MEN. It's owned by a MAN, who has had it in his family for over 60 years. It has one tv w/ no cable, a few magazines, a domino table, and pure MAN-talk every day. The walls are lined with pictures of MLK, Jr, military memorabilia, and classic car items. It is called American Barbershop and not Super this, Sports that, or any type of "Clips" or "Clipz".

That is a total fallacy my friend.
debatable, but fair enough....I always go back to VH1, 2, W&CF, FW, and DD days....just isn't the same to my ear after that.....as an aside, go listen to the unreleased songs that made the last one and compare to the new ones on the same cd.....big tonality difference IMO

There are subtle differences in every single album.
There was no magic amp sound he "lost".
The differences you are hearing is mic placement and the studio characteristics itself...AND his shift to his signature amps and guitars in later years.
Take it from a guy who has been playing lead guitar and covers for more than 25 years.
The brown sound is simply a 70's era marshall with "everything on 10". INCLUDING ALL the EQ dials.
Be sure not to set up your amp facing you, the crowd or a mic. You need to hit the speakers from an indirect angle to really capture the sound. If you stand in front of the amp or mic it in a typical manner, you will gt a high pitched, over the top tone that will ruin your ears.
If you really want to get anal about it.......Be sure you are using a 4x12 cab with the same type speakers he used back in the day. Can't remember the exact ones off the top of my head, but they are still mass produced.
Now..........all this is pointless unless you can play EVH note for note with virtually the same feel.

lot of guitarist obsess over the equipment or amp settings of the legends......eventually you learn that its all about the PERSON and their specific feel.
EVH or SRV could plug into almost anyone's amp and they will sound like they always do.
I've played and even recorded stuff on some unbelievably awful and cheap amps and people would be like..."DAMN, that amp sounds killer". I just smile and know its not the amp at all. Just my fingers. lol
Eddie lied about having a customized amp for years simply to add to his mystique. The band suggested he do this because everyone was always asking about his amp.
Eddie has admitted this in recent times, but I figured it out several years ago. I doubt I was the first though lol.
Most smart guitarists lie their ass off to fans, friends and other musicians to make them sound or look more brilliant than they really are.
Its just "trade secrets" that no one like to admit to.
