I view most of the at-large bid talk about MAC teams as sort of (with apologies to Joseph Heller) a Catch-22 situation:

In order to get an at-large bid, the team has to lose a MAC Tournament game.

.....BUT

Losing a MAC Tournament game, in itself is probably enough to disqualify a MAC team from receiving an at-large bid.

The point being----any MAC team good enough to get an at-large bid has to be good enough to win the conference tournament (and thus receive an automatic bid).

Thank god there's an explanation. Looked lost out there. Makes sense that he has the flu or something

Coach K missed the past weeks Monday night Coaches show from not feeling well.
Now Boothe.
Lets hope it doesn't spread any further.03-puke

It is all about getting a 1 or 2 seed for that bye to the semi finals. Then Rocket faithful can descend on Cleveland to take a title

To get there this team needs to learn to play defense. 90 points and losing is not going to cut it

If the rockets do not play better defense none of this is going to matter.
I do think that "second four" that rotated thru at least tries to play D!

Aren't they the ones who got us back in the game? Then, when the 1st team came back in we got behind again. Toward the end I was thinking coach should put the second four back in and we might win this thing.

That's why we're not coaches. You might ride a hot handed sub awhile but at the end you play your best five.

No you're not. I think that and the use of timeouts go against the coach and he was responsible for a lot of this loss

RE: MBB: Toledo at Ohio game thread
I love the way coach k does his thing. we are very well coached. the second unit was solid this game and I never want to see lauf leave the floor w the game on the line. I thought ohio was vulnerable to our press in OT. they were looking tired and getting sloppy w the ball and we have better depth, but it's always a bit of a risk to put on pressure and maybe give up a layup or two.

as for the at-large talk, clearly no mac team is ever safe. the committee has given at large bids to teams in conferences like the mac in recent years, but we never get one. actually, if you are wanting 2 mac teams in the dance then ohio winning was prob the best thing. even though the rockets have a better record, ohio has beaten more top100 teams and has a better shot at an at large if they close the yr strong bt lose in the conf tourney. ohio has wins over bubble teams like mercer and Richmond plus beat traditionally strong mid majors like valpo and n iowa. if they win at akron and buffalo and avoid any more bad losses they could fight for one of those last at large bids. the mac as a conference is ranked higher than anytime in the last 8 or 9 years.
