You do realize that Abdullah was not starting during the spring game? Cardon Johnson was starting but tore his achilles.

Whatever. I know what I saw from Abdullah last year. The kid can run.

It's sickening how much WBB (and his souffle's) Stoss tweets vs football ... Makes me questions his manhood.

With all of these transfers coming in, one thing is clear. Withers is going for it this year. Not saying it will work, but on paper, we are putting together a team that should have a real shot as Frisco.

We just need more high level FCS teams to leave for FBS!

RE: Transfers
I agree, Withers is trying to win a Championship next season. His approach to building our football program has been similiar to when Brady first arrived - bring in a bunch of transfer and try to win quickly with purhaps the motive to move on to a bigger program in a hurry. I won't fault Withers if he bails for a FBS job in three years especially if he can win us a championship.

I was on the fence about renewing my season tickets but the group I tailgate with decided to renew again and thus so did I. Since we have added these big time transfers I am actually looking forward to next season even without a conference announcement.

Go Dukes!

What transfers are we definitely getting right now? Lee and Hill...anyone else? I know a lot of guys with big pedigrees have been tossed around, but the chatter about them seems to have vanished. Just curious.

So you're saying I've come to the right place? Like I said, the thread discusses numerous potential transfers who have either visited or shown interest, with little info regarding their final decisions. Of those prospects, do we know who is actually planning to come?

RE: Transfers
The two high profile FBS tranfers that have been batted around are:

Kwinton Smith WR from South Carolina
? OL from UNC

I know both have visited. I haven't seen an official commit from them. For that matter there is nothing offcial about Alden Hill, either.

Here is a list from twitter

@jmudukeblawg: To recap rumors of incoming transfers- Alden Hill (UT), Kwinton Smith (USC), Nick Appel (UNC), Ishmael Hyman (KU), Kevin Robbins (GT). #JMU

Including Vad Lee, that would be an impressive group to have transfer in.

Thanks for providing the list. If we can get all of these guys, I'd definitely have high hopes for the team going forward!

I think we will get a few... call it the "Vad Lee Effect", young transfers are excited for the next few years and DUUUUKES fans should be too.

That is a huge stretch. More like on paper are putting together a team that has a real shot at the playoffs.

Most transfers transfer for the simple fact that they're not good enough to play at the IA schools they are transferring from. For every Vad Lee there's a couple of Thourogoods....

Not so sure its fair to say.that bringing in good transfers is tantamount to withers looking to win and bolt...maybe just wants to win quickly...would people rather a slow build? I think not....give this guy some rope for gods sake!

Agreed. One thing we can agree on is that things are shaken up. Looking forward to the season

I think it's more to do with the fact that when he was hired, basically recruiting season was over. Most guys had committed verbally and were not available to be recruited.

and i'm sure he expected some attrition, as is normal with coaching changes. So there was no one else to go after that is of the proper quality for JMU than transfers.

I expect this fall we'll get predominantly high school recruits and very few transfers next spring.
