The reason the percentage of homosexuals has gone up recently is because people aren't getting killed (as often) for being gay. Imagine being openly gay in the 70s or 80s - you could die. Now, that is much less likely, and the culture has changed with immense support from all areas of life - from education to entertainment.

If you were to hypothesize that the % of gays have gone up because the stigma attached is less, meaning more "come out of the closet", I might tend to agree with you. I really don't believe there are more gays about now because we're killing less of them. I'm not saying it never happens, just that the occurrences are too few to actually affect the numbers.

In fact, I'd hypothesize that gay deaths are 100X more likely due to contracting AIDS because in that world condoms are a dirty word than straights killing gays.............think I'm onto something?

Yes, that's what I was saying. Sorry, I wasn't that clear. I'm not saying the numbers are higher because they aren't being murdered, just that the stigma is much less and the indoctrination against the LGBT community is much less powerful now. That makes it much less of a life-threatening scenario to be openly gay. And thus, more are likely to say, yes I am gay and especially the ones who may have lived life in a marriage of convenience or single, without admitting their orientation.

You know, AIDS/HIV is a powerful thing, and I think that's what a good-sized sliver of gay people do suffer - and eventually die - from. That said, that number will hopefully continue to go down as people become more educated (one can only hope).

Fill me in. How in gods name can people NOT KNOW that skipping the condom is like playing Russian roulette? Have these bareback gay dudes been living in a mud hut with no written materials for 35 years? I doubt it - I think it's more like "A rubber doesn't feel the same, give me the loaded pistol!"

Wearing a condom is not the same. I hate them and can proudly say I haven't put one on in about 12 years. Granted, I have never had butt sex, but I can see where they are coming from. Condoms suck. I'd frankly rather jerk off.

Sorry, but most people have been brainwashed into speaking matter-of-fact about condoms being some saving grace. They aren't. You'll never get most people to use them because they take away the pleasure, so what's the point really? Teenagers can brag that they scored, but there is really no point to a mature individual wearing a condom. Us heterosexuals don't have to worry about AIDS, thankfully, and there are better ways to prevent pregnancy. Just underlies the dangers of homosexual behavior.

It's a simple fact...AIDS isn't an "America problem"...it's a worldwide issue.

lol, it's 100% accurate...you simply don't like it since it doesn't fit your paradigm...most AIDS cases come from sub-saharan Africa...most cases are females and they get it from straight sex.

Quote:Global trends in the HIV pandemic

Sub-Saharan Africa
Sub-Saharan Africa has been devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. While only 10% of the world's population lives in sub-Saharan Africa, an estimated 70% of all HIV infected adults and children are found there (Table 1). Heterosexual sexual transmission is predominant and sub-Saharan Africa is the only region where more women than men are infected. Patterns of sexual behaviour whereby young women have sex with older men, in combination with high susceptibility to infection in very young women, has resulted in extremely high infection rates in young women in some parts of Africa11. The inaccessibility of antiretroviral treatment in this region means that the vast majority of HIV infected people die around 8–10 years after infection, with tuberculosis being the most common AIDS-related illness. In the year 2000, 2.4 million adults and children were estimated to have died from AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

That's because 97% are hetero, at least here in the U/S... Go off percentages though, see what ya get.

Of course the females get it from straight sex. Their partners, however, get it from gay sex. Male on male rape is a symbol of power in those cultures, much like in prison. This is well known, but unspoken, and sure as hell not reported to the WHO. The leadership in those countries are scrambling and will institute laws that make Russia look like the Utopia to gays in order to eradicate it. Only an idiot would trust those stats. The US stats, however, are reliable. It is a gay disease.

Yet the vast majority of world wide aids cases come from hetero sex.

That's because 97% are hetero, at least here in the U/S... Go off percentages though, see what ya get.

You do know over 80% of AIDS cases come from outside the US right?

I'm sure most of that is from Africa, where AIDS originated. I'm talking about hetero vs homo within the U/S though. I won't be humping any African females, nor any other foreign females so my concern is within the U/S, and I'm sure I speak for most on here when I say that.

That's BS. If that's true, why are they banning gay sex all over Africa?

lol, it's 100% accurate...you simply don't like it since it doesn't fit your paradigm...most AIDS cases come from sub-saharan Africa...most cases are females and they get it from straight sex.

THAT explains a lot.

So you want to focus on say 15% of the problem and ignore 85% of the problem? (Roundabout numbers)

It's Africa...what did you expect?

If they think a chick is gay all the men gang rape the gay away...and then they wonder why they have AIDS.

I don't really concern myself too much with what Africans do in Africa. I figure it's up to those folks to figure out/fix their own problems. Same way I generally concern myself with what my family is doing and not so much for someone the next state over. That is kind of how it works. I've never been a "Save the Whales" type of guy. BTW, I give to charitable organizations so it's not like I don't give a rip about anyone else, I just tend to focus more on things I can directly impact than doings in Africa.

That's fine for dealing with your family...it's not how you attack an STD or STI

Jeez, and here I thought that you could say AIDS free if you didn't have anal sex/sex with a person infected with the disease....... or if you did have anal sex with someone with AIDS, a condom would likely keep one AIDS free. Oh, I forgot, don't use an AIDS infected needle to inject drugs into your bloodstream. Think these things might work?

What am I missing?

I guess you can't read...

I know you don't like it...but there it is...your straight disease.
