RE: Garrick McGee leaving a win-win for him and UAB; what about Houston Nutt? (Scarbo)
Is Bill Gates looking to get into coaching?
I honestly don't think anyone knows who would be the best fit for UAB. Again, I described a certain coach to a T yesterday... there is a reason why Neal hasn't been a head coach or even a DC since leaving UAB, but I don't know what that reason is.

RE: Garrick McGee leaving a win-win for him and UAB; what about Houston Nutt? (Scarbo)
Scarbinsky got it right. McGee leaving only looks bad for UAB in that he's making more money at Louisville. Otherwise who cares, the other variables are exactly the same as they were two years ago. At any rate there will be a line of people looking to pull Mackin's arm off to accept a job making half a million dollars a year where if they stay 10 years they get a state pension and they get to do something enjoyable instead of paving roads or driving to a 9-5 desk job 261 days a year. It doesn't matter how "bad" the situation is at UAB, for a coach a job is a job, and a paycheck is a paycheck, and $550,000 pays for a lot of headaches.
I think UAB needs someone experienced, whether it's a retread or otherwise. Like was mentioned earlier some of the problems going on in the department require someone who has the experience to fix it, not a learn on the job deal.

This is the correct rebuttal to the question "Who'd want this job?"
Nicely put.

I can see just a scenario where they tell us that the buyout money must go toward making up the deficit.
Well, we just got a 2 for 1 deal on McGee, so I think we are status quo when it comes to money.

Let's just be ridiculous and say the new salary will be $250,000 a year. You don't think people would be lining up for that too?

No. The stadium debacle had already happened when they hired McGee. That's specifically why the implication that he left because of facilities or that it'll be harder to hire someone else because of facilities is stupid. The stadium and other facilities situation has not changed one iota since the first day Garrick McGee got off an airplane in Birmingham.

McGee is an excuse maker since his "excuse elimination" introductory press conference.
Not surprised to see an excuse for why he's leaving. Probably did us a slight favor by saying it was facilities and not "because this job sucks and I'm ready for a reboot."
Regardless, he's full of it.

If I recall it had happened only a few months earlier. Maybe he was led to believe or chose to believe it was a small hiccup and would soon be overcome.
I distinctly remember the company line out of both Mackin and McGee being that if the wins come, the facilities will fix themselves. The wins never came so McGee can't get pissed that the facilities didn't either.

Watson gets credit soley because of longevity. Many of Watson's successes and most of his moral victories were in spite of Watson being charge. Watson did less with more talent. The other three head coaches can claim the opposite.

Your post: I guess wins over deaf schools and Knoxville college are better wins to you.

Wins > losses.
You can only beat the teams you play, and Hilyer was better at that than Watson.
