Agree with everything he said. Not sure about Nutt, but I think he summed up the situation well.
How is something unexpected yet predictable?
Bring the SEMO NUTTS poster back out of the storage shed!
Names floated on here today:

Gene Chizik
Terry Bowden
Pat Sullivan
Ralph Fridgen
Bill Clark

and now Houston Freaking Nutt.

We are screwed with a capital S.

No way on any of those, especially the "Auburn Men"...Have we not learned from how they disavowed Pat Sullivan?
Houston has expressed interest in every opening this off season. He desperately wants to be back on the sidelines.

Pat Sullivan disavowed himself?
Two years ago most of us were happy because we didn't get stuck with a retread. Now we're praying we can beg a retread hard enough to come here.

I would say the fanbase was torn between a retread and an up-and-comer assistant two years ago.

Most on "here" (BlazerTalk) were in favor of an assistant due to the confusing obsession with John Neal.

But there's more to the fanbase than just this forum, and there were plenty of people that wanted an established head coach looking for another shot.
If the choice comes down to a guy with no experience or has-beens like Bowden and Nutt and never-weres like Chizik, I'm taking the up and comer. At least that way, we can enjoy the fantasy for a few months before the season starts.

As part of me being allowed back into UAB games, I was contractually obligated to burn that sign and agree never to dance in public again.

Our biggest successes in football were with a hasbeen
While UAB is looking for a new football coach..........

Can UAB please, go back to the big dragon head on the football helmet! Ever since the school has changed that the footbal team is just awful.
as long as our new head coaches last job was not at a high school I will still show up to games and support the Blazers. I'd rather shut her down than have Russ propst as our head coach.

None of the people listed have been guys that would blow me away as far as wow factor but I'm not sure we can afford that kind of publicity.
I think we should be flattered if Nutt would take a low salary and take the job. Our up and coming assistant won 3 d1 games in cusa and quit the program leaving it in horrible shape. We need a re tread unless we can hire away Franklin before Penn st. He knows legion field is historic and magical.

I'd take every one but chizik.
I hope mackin loses the fantasy of a young coach who wants to stay here forever.

Here how I would rank my candidates.
1) proven head coach at a small school who is winning now.
2) retread who has been sucessful and knows how to build a program

3) good assistant - damien craig (spell check), auburn

So they paid us to take mcgee. This should put Watts and mackin in a good position to make a good choice and put money back into the program. Happy, happy, happy.
That's a good list.

I agree we just have too many problems that need to be fixed to hire an unexperienced head coach. And we don't have the money or ability to take a head coach from a majority of the D1 schools. So a "has been" might be our best option. At this point, I will take a 5 or 6 win season, so that way we can stabilize attendance. And, start building from there.

Makin expected Mcgee to leave as soon as possible once he had a couple of good years.
