Fox News 2013 Ratings Champ, Draws More Viewers Than CNN, MSNBC, HLN Combined…
Media Matters unavailable for comment.
Fox News Channel maintained its grip on the cable-news network ratings prize in 2013, drawing more viewers than the combined averages of CNN, MSNBC and HLN.
It was a down year in terms of overall audience, as every newsie but HLN showed declines from their Presidential Election-driven tallies of 2012.
According to Nielsen data through Dec. 8, Fox News Channel averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime (down 13% from 2012) and 297,000 adults 25-54 (down 30%). It was followed by MSNBC with 645,000 viewers and 203,000 adults 25-54 (down 29% in both); CNN with 578,000 (down 15%) and 187,000 adults 25-54 (down 16%); and HLN with 403,000 total viewer (up 21%) and 142,000 in the demo (up 27%).
Among all basic cable networks in 2013, FNC ranked sixth in primetime while MSNBC was 29th and CNN was 31st. In total day, Fox ran fourth while CNN was 28th and MSNBC ran 30th.

I am not a Republican, but if I were being honest Fox News does a much better job of balance than MSNBC. Fox News hosts have Democrats on all the time to give their side of an issue whereas I rarely see that from MSNBC. I also have seen Fox News anchors criticize Republicans when warranted, whereas with MSNBC I have seen them defend the indefensible just because someone has a D by their name.
CNN is boring IMO. I don't watch HLN because it is bascially tabloid fare.

CNN has the best election coverage. Greta has the best show across the networks and Fox has the best coverage for live news events. I've pretty stopped watching all of them other than election night or for live events like terror attacks, school shootings, or natural disasters.

In general, libs don't want to research & debate issues. They just want to be told how to vote by the New York Times. They don't watch TV shows that deal with complex issues. Obamatons.
That's what makes this board so special ... we have some actual libs who pay attention to current events.

I walked through the company break room yesterday and CNN was on the tube. I'm paraphrasing, but the topic was anyone that portrays Santa Claus as a white man is insensitive.
I immediately thought, no wonder nobody watches this sh!t.

While Fox dominates cable news, compared with the over the air dinosaur network news, they are miniscule. Just saying.
Since the younger demographic gets most of their news from alternative sources, the influence of those major networks news programs will diminish as the older viewers die off.

I'll typically agree with this one..
Quote: Greta has the best show across the networks
Yeesh.. I honestly, cannot stand Greta. If we're talking about all the networks (including the Business channels)... give me Cavuto. Brett Baier comes in a close second.
If CNN would let Jake Tapper do something outside the democratic playbook, I KNOW he could be the best of the bunch, but they keep him handcuffed repeatedly.
Quote: and Fox has the best coverage for live news events.
Unless they get into those police chases... BORING BORING BORING!!

You're a funny little man.
It's simple: All three cable news channels are guilty of manipulating well known perceptional biases.

Yes, let's go back to being spoon fed the "news" to a large segment of the populace through 24 minutes from the likes of Cronkite, Jennings and Rather bias. Dumb down the people even further. No thanks.

Do you think that's the only other option? False dichotomy.
