You still have time to go and look up the roster of Mount Olive and come up with some lame excuse of Mount Olive having 12 D1 transfers that would easliy compete for the D1 national championship if they were not NAIA or some crazy crap like that.

Not they don't and I haven't said any such thing because that's not the case. This is just a simple effect of playing way to many of these D2's and eventually you are going to come off exams flat and bored like this and some team like this will have people hitting 3's that haven't all year and some Rudy with 30. It was bound to happen.

Let's dog Akeem, yet he leads the team in scoring with 16 points, chips in 2 steals and hit a clutch 3 at a crucial time and hit a ton FT's. Damn what a god aweful player. Let's put him on the bench. 01-wingedeagle I mean he gets to the line 14 times today and you still want to dog his ass. He's doing exactly what you said he couldn't do infact. Scoring diversity.

2-12 from the field (16.7%)
1-10 from 3 point line (10%)

You have greatly exaggerated that guys actual ability'. He is a streaky player that is almost useless when he is not hitting. That is what he is and will remain for the rest of his collegiate career.

...and yet he still ended up with 16 points and led us in scoring. He still got it done at the line. Look at any box score, Curry had worse shooting games than this. That's basketball and retards like you just don't get it, there is nothing consistent about shooting the basketball from ANY primary scorers at any level, not even how many shots they can get from the floor even. Look at ANY game log. He's still having and amazing year and still has great shooting percentages and it works it self out as a whole. It's like in baseball a guy bats .300 and he might go through huge slumps, but people still recognize he's a great batter because he is winning games at some other point.

You keep comparing Richmond to Curry and Reddick, but the truth be told; Richmond is not even the best 3 point shooter on his own team so far this season. Did you realize that Caleb White is shooting 46% from the 3 point line? White is 13 of 28 from the 3 point line and he shoots 53.7% overall from the field.

Whatever Marv. Let White throw up 150 of those things and we'll see where he is at. There is a difference in being down the #1 option and go to scorer and being the 3rd or 4th option and taking wide open ones because the D is focusing on others. That's the value of having Richmond out there no one ever give him credit for but that Lebo has pointed out several times the kind of attention from Defenses he attracts and how he spaces the floor.

here is Curry's last year at Davidson.

The 3 pointers are the far column. He had some horrible shooting games no different than Akeem, Durant or anyone else that plays basketball.

Curry
5-26
6-20
6-23
5-18
9-27
7-23
11-30

That's just overall from the field, not even 3's which makes it worse, and he was a consensus All American and probably the greatest shooter perhaps ever that owns both the NCAA and NBA 3's record in a season too. I'm sure you'd dog his shooting too.

I don't think ECU is the 135th or 140th best team this year. If Mount Olive just made you sweat that much... you guys won't do to well in conference

False. This game doesn't matter. I know because I've been told so many many times around here that it's a worthless exhibition that doesn't count for anything. As such this close game doesn't matter either.

The fact is D2's have beat much greater teams than ours many times. I can think of ranked teams like Syracuse or Michigan State in the preseason or an NCAA at large Utah team a couple years ago or even a final 4 Virginia team with one of the best players in college basketball history in the regular season. It's just a blip on the radar after exams this week with a team that came out flat and some Rudy's from Mount Olive having the game of their life, several hitting 3's for the first time this season. As many D2's as we play and our players likely getting bored with them and they treat us like Duke. I'm surprised it took this long. The UNCW game and how they beat us concerns me more than this performance.

Also if anything this is the perfect game to gut out to show our young player can can't take anyone lightly and have to bring it every day. I think in some way this one actually ends up being very valuable for this team than most of our schedule.

But you are ECU and not a top 25 level program. This just means you guys suck until proven otherwise. You are right it doesn't matter from an RPI standpoint but they are a D2 program. There will be many other teams in conference that will destroy you if you play that way.

Neither is UAB, your point? That just makes it more acceptable when some of the top 25 teams have been upset by D2's over the years. You give any of these teams enough chance and you will come out flat and lose one of these games because it is their super bowl. I give our team credit for gutting it out and I think this ends up being one of the more valuable building blocks this season for the young and even old guys that haven't played a game like this.

Quote:This just means you guys suck until proven otherwise.

I think we've done enough to prove we don't suck. Sucking is like UTSA. We are easily one of the top 7 or so teams in CUSA out of 16 or whatever is in this conference right now.

Quote:You are right it doesn't matter from an RPI standpoint but they are a D2 program.

...and they don't count for ****. You guys have made that beyond clear. Now you want to say it matters and point out that we played a close game with them. That's typical.

Quote:There will be many other teams in conference that will destroy you if you play that way.

We haven't been destroyed once this year like UAB. Our worst loss was by 9 to a top 5 Duke team and even that one was closer than the score indicated. The only other loss was by 2 points to a rival in UNCW.

I agree. We are not that good. Unless they step it up?..it is going to be a long season when conference play comes. The exiting problem is also to be contended with. Every CUSA team hates our guts. Our guys better start manning up. Right now..I am not impressed with their focus. Good teams beat up on Mt. Olive and don't get beat at home by UNCW. There is really no excuse for any let up.

140th. You don't think we can be 140th this year. Based on what, a couple of close losses and being 8-2. Get out of here. Yeah I'll include the D2 wins since everyone around here wants to include them in their case as why we suck when we have a single one off close game vs them coming off exams. Our only losses are by 9 points to a top 5 Duke team and 2 points to a rival UNCW.

Is Danny Manning bringing the talent in? I thought I heard he started like gangbusters over there on the recruiting trail.

Manning has yet to strike gold in recruiting inside jucos. We need experience now this year, like an inside big man juco. We don't have him right now and its going to hurt us. We no real inside game yet. If nothing else need someone to block shots and take up space in the middle an enforcer we could use.

If Marshall's B-Ball team is the middle of the road for CUSA, we have big problems. We are not good! I have (want) to believe you guys are much better than that.

We don't lose and or almost lose to d2 teams then brag about how good that d2 team must be in threads. It makes you and this conference look bad to play them that close. Losing to UNCW does too. Those top 25 programs can stand to lose them because national media just calls it a fluke. It is a double standard but ECU will never get the benefit of the doubt. Playing them only matters when you don't destroy them.

Your current SOS is 320. Yours actually goes up in conference. UAB's goes down when we have to play the bottom 8 in CUSA yearly. This is why we have no respect for your 8-2 record. It is a farce. Temple is a top 100 RPI program which makes it an okay loss. Not that we're happy about it. UNC-w is the second best team you've played so we really don't have any data that says you are any good. All your schedule has proved is that you can beat teams with an RPI 200+. Being 7th in CUSA is not a good thing. It won't get you a bid to any tournament.

Don't ECU fans hate the "this is your superbowl" argument that NCST/UNC/Duke/WVU uses against you in football?

I'll bet you right now that if we can keep the 7 players we actually have healthy and on the court the rest of the year that we will still will very much be a factor in this conference race. I've seen enough to feel confident in that much with the other teams in CUSA.

This conference is looking like the 16th best conference in America behind and around conferences that don't even offer scholarships in some cases, and with the best team in CUSA projected as a barely top 70 team. We've still got about as good a shot at getting hot for 3 games as an autobid as anyone else in this one bidder looking conference. That's essentially what it's going to comedown to in all likelyhood.

so what are you betting? and I need a definition of competitive. Top 2, top 4, top 6 ?

ECU isn't helping raise our RPI too much with that 300+ SOS
