Have you looked at prices? With the holiday travel season, there's no cheap flights to Phoenix or New Orleans.

375pp to AZ vs 575pp to NO. Round trip.
Going to AZ is cheaper than last year.

Where are you finding 375 per person roundtrip to Phoenix?

RE: Is Sugar Bowl a possibility?
I wouldn't want NIU to play Alabama. They'll probably have something to prove -- to play an undefeated team they believe they Should Be. And after Saban was in a similar situation playing undefeated mid-major Utah years ago and got WHIPPED -- NIU would have a hell of a time facing them.

But The Orange Bowl, in FL, would want UCF, IMO, because they'd bring in more fans. It's about fans, not record.

Hopefully Texas beats Baylor and OK beats OK-State. NIU would face Texas in the Fiesta Bowl, and that'd be NIU's best bet of a team to beat.

Now, NIU going to Sugar? If they play Missouri, which experts believe will go -- hell yeah. NIU beat @Toledo bigger than Missouri beat Toledo at home. :)

I'd go down for that game!!

The price of flying is not that big an issue. You can fly to DFW and drive to NO. However, a lot of people will drive to NO and almost none to Arizona.

The cool thing about the Sugar Bowl is that we should have another HUGE convoy of student buses!

I don't want NIU to play Alabama but if Ohio state goes to the national title, Bama is going to the orange bowl. I'd prefer New Orleans because it's cheaper and closer to dallas.

If Ohio St goes to the national title, it's going to be Missouri or Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.

The Bucks are going to need a Missouri win, I just don't see that happening.

Sugar Bowl is not going to pick NIU if Mizzu wins the SEC.

If Auburn wins but somehow does not get to the NCG then maybe.
If Auburn wins and goes to te NCG then AL would get the invite and we would have a good chance at the invite.

Auburn will beat Missouri, I believe. But you never know -- Auburn's luck could run out! :)

It'd be great to see NIU vs Missouri in New Orleans.

I don't know why you quoted me. I didn't say anything about a NIU/Missouri Sugar Bowl possibility.

I don't think NIU gets the Sugar Bowl invite regardless. UCF/Cincy has bigger fanbases $$$

But what if #5 Missouri beats #3 Auburn? And #2 Ohio State loses to #10 MSU? And #1 Florida State loses to #20 Duke? And #6 Oklahoma State loses to #16 Oklahoma? And #7 Stanford loses to #13 AZ-State?

*rankings based on Harris poll that just came out

My guess would be Missouri vs. Alabama with a very mad Oklahoma St fanbase.

+1000 on not wanting Alabama. I also don't want Auburn, Mizzou, Clemson, Stanford, Florida St or Ohio State, LSU, OK State or Baylor. Although, I guess if I had to choose on that list...OK State is the best choice.

I'm happy with Fiesta Bowl with OK State. Please noooo Alabama!

Ye have little faith. Last time NIU played Alabama, they won. THAT is the power of PJ Fleck 03-wink

RE: Is Sugar Bowl a possibility?
Yeah, I think Sugar is much more likely if Alabama goes there. If Bama goes they won't be worried about ticket demand so much and opt for the higher ranked team. With Mizzou though, they'll need the ticket sales so they'd probably go with UCF.

So if Auburn wins the SEC title and indeed plays in the BCSCG, and SMU beats UCF, and NIU beats BG, I think an Alabama matchup in Sugar could happen.

I don't know why but if NIU beats BGSU, I am getting a feeling NIU and Bama are destined for a date in New Orleans because of the scenario you laid out above, and having Louisville beat Cincinatti.

Bama is an NFL lite team similar to FSU last year....not liking our chances if we face them. Ok. St. is a far more winnable game.
