I think we are headed in the right place. They played til the end. We have things to work on.
We will have bad games but as long we they keep playing. These guys are fun to watch and they have some hussle. I thiink we will be fine this year and I think these losses will trigger put the chip on their shoulders they need.

We're on the right track. Anybody expecting a close game yesterday was setting themselves up for failure. WVU is larger, longer, faster, and shoots better. No-brainer in terms of the outcome.

you can't execute heigth! you may can hang with the big boys for a little bit, but in the end, the size difference will catch up to you. Our guys played hard and gave it all they had, but they just will not be able to compete this year due to their shortness. So far I haven't seen any help in this area coming from JJ. To get better, we need to get taller!!!

Success isn't going to happen overnight. This is still Blaine's guys for the most part learning Jeff's system. I'm proud of them for their effort. I understand an NCAA birth is the only measure of success for the program but these guys won 5 total games last season, 3 with Corrigan. If that last 5 minute (no BW joke intended) debacle didn't occur during Mizz State, this would have been their first L on the season. And keep in mind they can only practice but so much during the season, that whole student part throws a wrench into it. But I do agree that FT shooting needs to be improved drastically.

RE: WVU In Cancun
I thought the game got away from us in the 1st half when we played Anton. We're a driving team and going to the line 13 times in the 1st half and only making 3 for a guard heavy team is just crazy. On the plus we out rebounded WVU 35 to 28. We had 8 steals to their 4, we need to push the ball up the court. Our offense is better in transition and we need the defense to provide some help. Our assists to TOs was a problem and many of the TOs were unforce like inbounding the ball. I think a JJ team playing a bunch of guards should execute better and I think we can.

it amazes me how bad we are at the line. I don't think anyone made two in a row and some of the misses were bad. I remember when ebondo went to the line and you just knew that he'd miss them both (he did).

What pissed me off was the 18 fouls before we were ten minutes in. There was no flow to the game. For my sanity and my daughter's wish to watch the Doctor Who 50th anny special, turned off the game.

yeah, the 2nd half was better as far as all the fouls. we were warned before the season started that there was going to be a lot of fouls in the first few weeks of games.

There's a ton of fouls now partly because these kids don't know how to play defense with their feet instead of their hands. Thanks SportsCenter.

Well according to the boxscore ODU outrebounded WV 35 to 28. 21 of our rebounds came from our guards. I think a major difference in last nights game was WV quickness and accuracy in shooting. It didnt help that we couldnt hit free throws either. I agree we need some height but I think Taylor, Ross and Ebondo do a tremendous job given the circumstances.

A couple of skilled, lengthy wing players can change everything for this team. If you don't understand what I'm saying, I really hope you get the chance to see if we land one of these '15 or '16 SF recruits.

Indeed. Last night was not so much about the WVU height advantage, but about their outside shooting accuracy.
We did a great job on the boards!
We are very much in this game if we could shoot FTs

+ 1
I'm pretty sure from Bobby's statement that he didn't even watch the game, and maybe hasn't watched any.

We will definately need to make some free throws by the vcu game. Im sure it will be a foulathon being it is played in Richmond.

Watched the game and even though the score got out of hand, thought we played well. From my viewpoint, the difference in the game was WVa's ability to hit shots. We had our usual cold streak, couldn't hit FTs, etc and fell behind. Liked our hustle and competitiveness.
Not saying that we're going to set the world on fire or have a big season, but pleasantly surprised by us being a lot better than I thought we'd be. Also like how Jones is teaching on the bench to the players throughout the game.

I noticed that as well and it was refreshing to see. I don't remember what had just happened, but JJ made sure everyone on the bench was getting the same instruction. The players were certainly paying attention and seemed engaged in whatever Jones was saying. I can't remember seeing BT do that during the game.

Blaine was not a game day teacher...not sure he was much of a practice teacher either. I'm just saying...
Give Coach Jones some props as far as preparing his players and for his in game instruction. I think we will see dividends...just need him to recruit a couple of 3 star recruits...
