I still think we will not make it easy for ourselves, but that has just been the story on Western this season...However I dont think Texas st.'s defense by the numbers is as good as they have been made out to be......I guess we shall see Saturday...

Yep, we suck.. I would spend this week preparing for Ark State instead 04-cheers

In all seriousness, this year has largely yielded one of the weakest strength of schedules in all of FBS.... but I think it has done great things to our program and it's through these types of wins that we will become a power in the conference. Nothin' wrong with the Boise model 02-13-banana

Our schedule has been weak, however, some of those games were scheduled against teams that should have been better than they are...

The Southern Miss series was scheduled in 2011, the year they beat a BCS-bound-Houston in the C-USA championship game. Who could have predicted they would have not won a game since??

The Wyoming series was scheduled in 2010. They beat us 45-10 in 2011. We beat them 42-21 this year. Who could have predicted we would get that much better and/or they would get that much worse in 2 years? Especially since their star QB Brett Smith was just a true freshman in 2011.

Since the hiring of the anointed one in Bowling Green it's been hard for me to pull for WKU. After all the malarkey being spewed by WKU fans this year, I withdraw my good wishes and hope TxSt stomps a huge mudhole in your arses followed by an even bigger thumping in your last game in the conference on your home field.

After those next two games-----I'll do my best to let bygones be bygones---BUT---if WKU beats ASU in the finale, it will sting and stink at the same time.

That makes sense because WKU fans are the only ones that spew malarkey on a message board.

TXST's six wins this season have come against an opponent's combined record of 13-47. What about WKU? 20-41. I wouldn't put to much stock in the strength of schedule for either of these teams.

so should we western fans pull for asu to lose every game because the voice of the red woofs....seminole indian.....who speaks for the entire asu nation told the rest of us that we all are inferior to his sec level team?

is that how this works?

Wonder if WKU has more stroke than Benson if it came down to a bowl choosing an at-large SBC team over WKU on an island? Obviously I am asking the question because I don't think Benson carries much weight and it could possibly happen.

If you're counting on help from CUSA, you better hope that FAU doesn't get eligible. I would think they would have to lobby for them over WKU.

Conference will not help WKU, and if they go to a bowl, they don't get any sort of help from the league to subsidize the trip. If WKU goes bowling, its on their own dime.

That is just silly because if Western gets a bowl bid they will get the same amount of expenses paid as any other SBC school. Till July 1st Western is a member of the conference and the SBC has more to lose than Western if what you said actually happened. Lets just say it did and the SBC refused to give Western every benefit that is given to any other conference bowl school.....

it's called breaking a contract and in that case any units Western EARNED and stilled owed with the 2 back to back trips to the NCAA (actually 4 since units are still owed from our sweet 16 and the round of 32 trips) would be withheld from the conference because of the breach of contract.

But it will never come to that because the people in charge of the SBC won't let hurt feelings get in the way of a contract..

My understanding is the way the rules work is that WKU forfeited any share gain from the bowls this season. Thus, we wont subsidize your bowls, and you wont make any profit off ours. That is the rule in every league in the country for departing teams.

If WKU makes the NCAA tourney this year, we get your NCAA units and you do not get to share in the profit off those units. That happened to MTSU last year and will happen this year

Its not breach of contract if its the conference bylaws. Those are the sacrifices you make by agreeing to leave the league. Again, every league in the country does this. The SBC is not doing it because we're getting back at you. WKU agreed to these rules when they signed on...gotta follow them now.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand...

till July 1st 2014 WKU is a member of the SBC and will receive EVERY benefit no matter what it might be that every other member in the conference will receive. After that date Western will not be entitled to any SBC money but we will keep our share of the units earned with the trips to the NCAA tourney.

I don't know how much the SBC gets from Westerns trips to the NCAA tourney and the wins but I believe it's a 50-50 split. So you are correct Western will not get a share of the SBC money but that ends on July 1st 2014...not 11-20-2013. But you are also wrong because Western does not forfeit the share of the units Western has earned that 100% belongs to Western.

Honestly it's not that difficult to understand....just because feelings are hurt doesn't mean you can do anything you want to the party that hurt your feeling. Especially when a contract says other wise. Western had to live by the terms of the contract and give a years notice or pay a fee to leave the conference early.

I get it that some folks feel jilted like your wife just left you for another person and now you want to punish that person....

contracts stop that and unless it was changed last year the SBC will treat WKU just like any other SBC school that goes bowling.

Are you 100 percent sure on this. There are a lot of leagues where outgoing teams forfeit bowl money.

You might want to check the bylaws, but I have yet to find a college football league where outgoing members have the same rights as current members.

What I said has nothing to do with money earned this year because if there's any left it will be next year before the schools get it and Western will be gone. But it's nonsense to think that if Western goes bowling the conference will not give Western the same benefits as ASU ot TXST or ULL....

I'm talking expenses paid for by the conference on this years bowls if there are any.

Well that's it for tonight, time to get some rest...going fishing in about 7 hours hope I have better luck on my last day than I had today.

I encourage you to go back and read our AD's comments. You may get in because of numbers but it will be with zero conference support. It may be hard to get a bid without a conference to guarantee revenue. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out, but if you are expecting to be treated like a full fledged member you are going to be disappointed. The good news is that your coach is still a media side show so he could drive interest but if he goes 3-4 in the belt he losesa little luster. I think it will be interesting because the spots should be available for you guys to bowl but the lack of league support may be too much to overcome.
