If JJ was better at shooting on the move and scoring OVER the defense this wouldn't even be a question.

Joe gets more assists than anyone on the team.

He could average 6-7 apg this year.

Wait a minute, for 3 years on here the geniuses all tried to say that Joe was a 2?

I didn't say we played like crap. We played good offensively and built an early lead. So maybe we relaxed a bit on D and rebounding. But we need to improve our defense and rebounding to beat a good team on their floor.

Not to pile on, but you do know that we outrebounded them 50-27 right?

I still get a chuckle when people say "Joe played so much better when he was moved off the ball last year".

The good thing is, we don't have to choose.

At any rate, it's too soon to tell. Both will be extremely valuable. Dixon will have the better game some games. Joe will have the better game some games.

They're different players.

I needed a thread to vent my frustration from last night and I think I found it. First I agree with Cowboy. But here is what really bummed me out last night.

Dixon was "looking to get his" in the first half, played press defense well but after that did not stay with his man. To the OP , I think he has more natural ability than JJ.

Jackson- so what does Joe do in the second half after being irritated with Dixon's selfishness, 'fereezes him out" on about 6 consecutive possessions down the floor. Looked him off every time and threw to the other side. It was like deja vous to when he was a freshman.
I'm sorry, but I see the same dramatic bs that lead to the loss against SLU. Joe has matrued a lot but not enough, he should have led by example, that bs will get us beat against a very good team.

As far as his play, I thought Joe was the hardest working guy on the floor and he can be what Turner and EP were as juniors/seniors.

I would be curious to know if Cowboy, Easterwood, Jason or JM saw what I saw because that petty bs needs to be nipped in the bud.

OK, blast away at me now but I had to vent.

I didn't see him freezing anybody out. I will say that even I get annoyed at some of Dixon's hysterics out on the court. Needs to act like he's been there before instead of like he won the lottery every time he gets a basket.

Hard to read too much into who someone passes to. It's impossible to accurately speculate on motives. It was sufficiently non-obvious that you seem to be one of the only ones that even noticed.

IF it was an issue, Pastner or the assistants noticed, I'm sure, and it will be dealt with. There's a LOT to be happy about with our guard play last night.

We, (with the rock in Jos's hands), looked terrible. This has been a trademark of ours for years .... Not blaming any one player but I'd like to think we would have progressed in this area over the last 4 seasons. This can hurt us badly during a game or two this year.

Maybe it won't come down to that ... But I'm not sure we can even get a play off under those circumstances.

Here is how I feel about JJ. I have always been a fan of his. I think he will forever be one of the most over-scrutinized and under-appreciated players in Tiger history. In saying that he has clearly struggled at times with different aspects of his game. However, he is a bit of an enigma. For some reason it is as if mistakes are just glaring during games and the positives are done when nobody is looking. And I do not mean only to those who scrutinize his every move, but it seems that way to me who is looking for the good that he does. I was shocked tonight when I saw he lead the team in points and assists. It is really strange because I remember the play at the end of the half and I clearly remember his other turnover. I do remember his first layup and another one where he made everyone else seem to be in slow motion. I am not sure what causes this to happen. It is just odd.

I don't know why Pastner insists on calling time out to set up a play like that. All it does is force us out of our rhythm and sets up a play where everyone just stands around and joe has to try to make something happen before time expires. If you noticed, Pastner calleda timeout right as Joe had completely broken down his defender and was driving to the basket. Why not just let that happen?

They, sports south is replaying the game at 10:00 I'm going to watch closely to see if this stuff between joe and Dixon was really going on. I will say this though if Dixon is out there making sure he gets his then I understand joe freezing him out. Hogging the ball is total crap.

He called the timeout because it was going to be our last possession and it was the "use it or lose It" timeout. Now, you can disagree all day long whether he should have just let the play go on and just lose the timeout instead of "using it just to use it". I am not saying it was the right decision, just letting you know why he probably called it.

I would take Greron over both of them, no matter the position. I believe he is the floor leader, most talented and the player I want to have in the game at crunch time.

Joe and Michael are both Tigers. All four of our senior guards are very good. All four have different qualities and strengths. Their greatest strength is they are all MEMPHIS TIGERS.

Your back must be hurting because that's quite a reach. Dixon's selfishness and "looking to get his"? He was 5-7 from the field and 1-2 from 3. He took good, high percentage shots.

You act like he put on a Rudy Gay-esque 11-37 performance.

Thats not really true at all. There are some who said that but there have been plenty others like me saying all along that he need to be a PG.
