Why does either have to be better? Both need to be great for us to cut down the last set of nets.

At the same time, Joe is one of the top 5 PG in the nation.

I'm a homer and I like JJ but no way JJ is one of the top 5 PG's in the nation..

I don't see why in the world not. He just had one of the best seasons a tiger guard has ever had.

His numbers last year pretty much scream it. He will likely average 6+ assists per game this year.

I think this is a classic case of undervaluing him in order to tell yourself you are "keeping it real".

You could argue he is more in the 6-10 range then 1-5, but either way he is one of the best in the country.

I'm not saying he isn't good but there are a lot of real good PG's out there this year and a lot of them are freshmen..

I just don't see how anyone could logically argue he is not a top 10 PG at minimum.

There is a difference in being a better pro prospect and being a better collegiate PG.

We already know our guards are really good.

Tuesday will tell us about the rest of the team imo.

Have your meds available because AP was getting wide open 3's and driving to the basket from the perimeter at will.

If you had bothered to watch other teams play this year you would know its a nationwide epidemic so far this season.

The rule changes have people scared to even engage penetration under the basket.

Duke, Kentucky, Mich St, Kansas all gave up wide open layup after wide open layup.

This is sadly true. The rule was put into place to encourage more scoring.

^^This^^

And it's not going to be about the "rest of the team". Just watch the last 30 secs of the 1rst half when we try and get a good shot out of a structured play. WTF? Why are 3 cross overs and 2 step backs required to get the ball to a guy coming off of screens? I know it was just AP, but from a 4 year starter/senior to not execute a simple play was not a good sign.

True. But not wide open threes. You give up one or the other. Not both.

Blows my mind why some people focus so much on the negative. I'm really starting to feel like we played like crap after reading some of these posts.

Actually everyone is giving up a LOT of open 3's as well. Players are getting much better looks at the basket due to the hand checking change. Screens are suddenly more effective overall, freeing up offensive movement.

We got some wide open looks too with a lot less effort than normal.

I didn't say we played like crap. We played good offensively and built an early lead. So maybe we relaxed a bit on D and rebounding. But we need to improve our defense and rebounding to beat a good team on their floor.

Rebounding? We out-rebounded them 50 to 27...
