Oh man can you imagine the B1G BBall tourny in Brooklyn?

Wow, thats scary good.
Where's the rest of the teams?
And where did Kansas come from? Would that be after Texas and OU join the ACC?

You wish...
UConn is not getting into the Big Ten, that is not a wish. It's a promise.
I tend to agree with you about UConn. But I thought you were talking about Baylor there, since it followed my comment on the Bears...
We just got our signals crossed there, dude...

As a UConn alum/fan, I wish these rumors wouldn't exist. If UConn does get a Big 10 invitation someday, I don't want to hear about until it happens.
If it never happens, talk of a possible invitation just brings out the hate-UConn crowd and it prevents the AAC from achieving stability.

The AAC should end up being more stable than the old Big East was. There aren't so many agendas to contend with...

I'm curious if the Big Ten would honestly upstage the debut year of UMD and RU by having another school in the pipeline. And JHU is different, since it's an affiliate and won't be joining up until the Big Ten's got its own lacrosse conference.
January will come and go, but whatever happens that month, I don't expect the Big Ten to move on the subject of expansion until late into next Fall at the earliest.

Looking from a distance Uconn makes a lot of sense, esp as a path of least resistance choice. Problem is you still need a #16. I really don't see that pick.

UConn just seems like an awfully small fish for the Big10.

Don't misunderstand gang: I don't entirely believe Houston would go to the B1G. I'm merely amused at the idea of Texas being so wrapped up in being a big fish in their own small pond that two schools from their own state would move on to bigger and, arguably better, conferences...thus Texas being damaged by their own greed. That idea is really really funny to me, thus while I doubt it WILL happen I certainly would love if it did.

UConn insider still at it.
He posted a cryptic picture of buckeyes or chestnuts? Their AD Ward Emanuel is celebrating some big victory and is mounting it on his wall like a trophy.

This information came from a family member who works for the UConn President.
UConn is at the right spot, at the right time, to take advantage of the Big Ten wanting to push for even more leverage going into talks for a new TV contract for 2017.
A school with a big market for the BTN will be the partner with UConn in Big Ten expansion. Look for a school like Houston to be the "ying" for UConn's "yang".
Back in August, you mentioned one thing to look for was public statements (before October) out of the President’s office, not just out of the Athletic Department, which will describe advanced financial plans of the University of Connecticut building a new On-Campus Ice Arena for the Men’s and Women’s University of Connecticut Hockey teams.
Has that happened?

Me too
Question for anyone who knows:
Will the Rutgers addition allow the Big 10 Network to charge "in-state" subcriber fees (90 cents/mo vs 10 cents/mo) to people living in NYC? Elsehwere in New York state?
19M people live in NY. 8M in NYC.
If Rutgers gets them the cable subscriber fees from the 8M in NYC but not the rest of NY state, then Buffalo adds a net 11M people to the footprint.
The state of Texas has 26M people. I don't know if the Big 10 Network could charge "in-state" cable subscriber fees to all of them by adding UH.

On top of that, the reason the old Big East was unstable was less about agendas fb vs bb: it was about agendas fb vs fb, whereas the basketball schools typically had their ducks in a row and knew what they wanted. They actually acted as a conference. The football schools, did not. I don't see how that changes, seeing as how the AAC is made of up teams with so vastly different backgrounds, vastly different resources, and vastly different goals and expectations. If anything without an anchoring or uniting force, whatever you want to call the BB Schools, it will probably be less stable. And that is before you consider the roaming eyes.
