Unless UConn joins as a member, Pitt and Cuse adds the sport and the ACC could somehow convince VT to add a team too..it isn't happening.
On the plus side it would give some quality ACC Network programming.
having 3 acc teams to sponsor it would light a fire under the ass of the rest of the acc and could get 3 more teams to move up over the next decade.....
especially if b10 hockey is a success

ND has its own stand alone NBC Sports TV contract for hockey.
I don't see them wanting to leave that deal and Hockey East to join a fledgling ACC hockey conference.

I love how people expect everything to be an instant smashing success - and if it isn't, it is a failure.
Thankfully, there are some people with a long term vision around.

Another reason why I am glad ND is not in the B1G - the Extreme selfishness of the Irish - kinda like vampires - suck the lifeblood out of everything you touch, then move on to next victim, never giving back.

Hockey East, WCHA, and CCHA were always the top 3 conferences. All Big Ten hockey does is solidify Hockey East as the top conference where as before they battled with the WCHA for top dog.

Me too.
I wish ND were independent in all sports.
I very much dislike the entire idea of conferences, all/any conferences, for all/any sports.

Tell me why Cuse couldn't be a Hockey Power in 5-7 years with the right coach?

i dont ever think i said b10 hockey would be an instant success, it is something thats gonna take time & a lot of these b10 schools are in fact downgrading for long term gain

Three New York schools would instantly be powers in hockey:
Buffalo
Stony Brook
Syracuse
Right now, only Atlantic Hockey has an opening. The ECAC would have to split down Ivy lines and then add the team.

Syracuse would be a great hockey school - but my comment was directed at those on this thread criticizing B1G Hockey in it's first season.

Often think that Rutgers and Maryland were added with an understanding that they would have to add hockey. The Big Ten needs some schools for Minn and Mich to fatten up on new that that don't have Mich Tech and N Mich.
The NCHC may have stronger teams and higher attendance that the Big Ten and Hockey East, but they lack the media markets.

RE: Hockey East Dominates "Hockey East - Big Ten Challenge"...
Big Ten Hockey is already an excellent, major conference.
Absolutely no question.
I posted about this inaugural "HE-B1G Challenge" because Hockey East dominated an excellent conference, so I wanted to shamelessly toot our horn.
Anyway, ok, they have 6 teams...
Michigan:
since 1991:
22 NCAAs.
11 Frozen Fours.
2 National Championships (96, 98).
Michigan State:
since 1982:
24 NCAAs.
6 Frozen Fours.
2 National Championships (86, 07).
Minnesota:
since 2001:
10 NCAAs.
4 Frozen Fours.
2 National Championships (02, 03).
since 1974:
30 NCAAs.
16 Frozen Fours.
5 National Championships (74, 76, 79, 02, 03).
Wisconsin:
since 2004:
6 NCAAs.
2 Frozen Fours.
1 National Championship (06).
since 1970:
24 NCAAs.
9 Frozen Fours.
6 National Championships (73, 77, 81, 83, 90, 06).
Ohio State:
since 1998:
6 NCAAs
1 Frozen Four.
Penn State:
last season was first in Division-1.

UNL is gonna be the 7th hockey member for the b10 when they do expand.
hell d1 hockey might just be a requirement for b10 admission
