One of those was an upset of the #1 seed UAB too. We have beat 11 top 100 teams under Lebo including NCAA teams like Memphis. We've ranked higher than UNCC every year since Lebo has got here in Sagarin, Pomroy, and the end of season RPI and our average RPI for those 3 years combined RPI is 30 to 40 spots higher any way you want to calculate it. We've beat them on key recruits too and certainly trend to get better as the season goes and finish the last month stronger than they do as they flame out and fade.

The only approach thing or facilites they can still talk crap to us about is D2's and I can't imagine that we get away with that like we did in CUSA. We didn't even play D2's in the CAA so it obviously can be eliminated here. That only started at the level we abuse it as in CUSA 2.0, so I fully expect that to change when we leave if not by our choice by schools with pull like UConn calling the conference office and making it.

If UNCC had 18k n the arena and were recruiting and winning like Memphis and that kind of program maybe they would have a point, but their basketball looks a heck of a lot more comparable to ours in just about everything you can point to today than their football will likely for decades, if they ever come close on support, resources, or facilites. That's a fair point if you are trying to draw comparisons.

Charlotte won 7 games against top 100 teams last season, including a top 25 and top 50 win. how many did ECU win.
Charlotte had 3 wins against schools that danced ( two of them on the road) including 2 that made the 32 and one that made the 16. how many NCAA teams did ECU beat.
Charlotte won the Great Alaska Shootout by winning three games in three days. the field included a NCAA team and 2 NIT teams.
Charlotte beat 4 teams that made the NIT. How many teams that played in the NIT did ECU beat? *disclaimer, this Charlotte fan is not that impressed with the NIT, but schools are given at large bids and don't have to pay to play.
Charlotte won 8 games in conference play. The a10 sent five teams to the dance. ECU won 9 games in CUSA. how many teams did it send to the dance.
Charlotte won a game in its conference tourney. how many did ECU win in the CUSA tourney?
Charlotte beat 21 schools that were eligible to play in the NCAA tournament when charlotte beat them. how many did ECU beat?
Charlotte beat the crap out of ECU in head to head competition. it was not a close game and your players were outclassed and out played by a superior opponent in Charlotte. How many points did ECU beat Charlotte by last year?

Last year was considered a down year for Charlotte basketball, but we were head and shoulders better than ECU. Keep thinking that you've come even close to passing Charlotte as a program.
Check and mate.

See, here's the thing, I don't give a F about Charlotte, only ECU. I don't care who has/had the better history, I only care about ECU's program and keeping it moving forward. You can keep troll'n and bashing us if you want. But, to the unbiased eye, ECU has come a long, long way since hiring Lebo, that is fact. And, I could give two shiats less what you think.07-coffee3

RE: ECU has open slate for home game on 8/30/14. Charlotte?
Funny, that completed season still graded out ranked behind ours in every major ranking at the end of the season. Pomroy, Sagarin, RPI. That is the 3rd straight year since Lebo and Major took over, and those are not my formulas saying it 07-coffee3 For our programs it's really not even close when you look at the bigger picture under our current leadership you have averaged a good 30 spots behind us since Lebo and Major took over too.

Look in the mirror we are already comparable. You spend less on basketball now, you have about the same size arena, and only draw about 1200 more fans a game. It's not like you are close to selling out. Even that minor support gap likely closes with added home and homes in the future with UConn, Cincy, etc and you guys losing the Xavier's, Temples etc you had. You can think you are far ahead of us all you want but recruits like Stith are saying you're not these days.

Regardless there is a debate about who has the better basketball program in this decade. There will not be a real one in the big boy sport with our football for decades if ever, simply if nothing else because I can never see you averaging or having a stadium even with in 10k of us in football as long as we are probably alive. If your basketball was really where you seem to think it is you'd have an arena the size of UTEP and be getting elite level non BCS support. Those are the foundational things that always help attract coaches and players and keep you relevant moving forward.

Funny that SJ is hiding behind computers. Watch the games. ECU wasn't good last season no matter how many times they beat Loyola.

Forget what you posted? You want to bash SJ when he suggests that ECU stops play Charlotte in basketball (rightly or wrongly suggests it). But, you are the one that first suggested anything dealing with basketball. Your the one that said Charlotte should use it as leverage to get a home and home in football. Yet you want to laugh at someone for saying that ECU shouldn't play you period.07-coffee3

Like two basketball games could used to leverage us in football.07-coffee3

Bashed SJ? No. Mocked SJ and ECU's horrible schedule? Yes.

Point was why scratch ECU's back when they wouldn't do it in return?

Putting Charlotte into a thread title is like lighting the Bat Signal for SJ. Sometimes I wonder if other ECU fans don't do this just to push his buttons. Dance, monkey, dance.

And how about you guys get it through your heads (particularly SJ) that we don't give a $hit about EZU bball no matter how much SJ hypes up some totally BS "rankings" that he claims show EZU has ended better than Charlotte for 2 or 3 or 30 years in a row (even though it has been proven many times over how those "rankings: are total BS after the post season given the disparity in number of games played, etc). We all know Charlotte was better in all recent seasons (even in our worst stretch since the early 80s and EZU's best era EVER). Hence the a$$ whippins we gave your team and our record against quality opposition. SJ's obsession is somewhat amusing and yet annoying at the same time.

Again, YOU get that through your heads!!

Get over. ECU fans can rag on every other team/fanbase but once the tables are turned you become the biggest group of crybabies I've ever seen.

Also, the fact that there are 4 non-D1s on your schedule almost every year shows the fans don't care enough to complain to the AD.

I like to think we're slowly but surely transitioning away from scheduling all the non-D1's. A few years ago it was a necessity... we were awful, and needed all the easy tune-up games we could get.

Now, while I'm not in any way shape or form saying we're world-beaters or have "arrived"... I think that we've progressed enough since Lebo arrived (Postseason tournament championship, above .500 in C-USA, bye in the first round of the C-USA tourney, bigger/better recruits, brand new $15M basketball facility, etc) that we will start scheduling up in the next year or two. Lebo said before that he can't get some bigger name schools to call him back... how true that is, I don't know.

Now with the new AD in place, the new facility in place, and a couple good recruiting classes back to back, I definitely see things changing as far as how we schedule non-conference games in the future.

That's how ECU was bolstering our program and I think it was smart. Winning 23 games looks impressive & accordingly our recruiting has taken off. Maybe it's a little inflated but at the end of the day ECU had a winning conference record, finished fourth in the league, & won a post season tournament and that's all anyone will remember. Particularly, if we go on to have greater success moving forward.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%...tball_team

ECU basketball is trending upward & momentum is continuing to build. It's logical to infer that ECU basketball has a great chance to take even bigger steps with the profile upgrade that the AAC will provide. No disrespect to C-USA 3.0 because they might end up being better than 2.0 but the separation is with UConn, Temple, Cincy, Memphis, exposure, more $, a bunch of packed houses, upgrading facilities, better recruits, etc.

BTW, we have complained to AD, HC, the Media, radio, even some in the media bring it up. I'm sixk of beibgas respectful as I can and time and time again getting none back. I see now why others have left........

Did any of that happen with CUSA 1.0, which was a better bball league than the AAC?

That's going to be debatable many years considering it's a smaller league and the way SMU and UCF are recruiting.

Did we ever get one of these in CUSA 1.0, much less in the first try?

Nope because we had a coach that said he hated recruiting publicly. Herrion was that problem and the 15 straight losing seasons he has had as a head coach and counting pretty much cemented that fact.
