The play calling is terrible. I swear Tech plays to lose close. No fire from anyone but Dixon. Holtz is killing the competitive nature of our players.

NT D was very good at stopping the run. NT's O is rather boring but it worked. NT was more fired up to play and wanted to win it more. 3 big plays won the game. Good win for NT.

Same thing he did at USF. Feel for you guys.

Wish I could've spent some time seeing the campus, but the new rec and newish dorms overlooking the baseball field are SWEET. This is going to sound a little cold but man...your cheerleaders were busted-is this the norm? Hope you enjoyed ours, we brought our A team.
The campus on the south side off the tracks just down from the stadium is why I experienced first and it wasn't pretty.

Then I did a lap around to the north side of the stadium in the tailgate area and that was pretty nice with all the trees and people. The west side outside the stadium was pretty nice too. Looked like a good baseball field to the east.

We drove to the east from the stadium after the game and were very impressed with the campus over there.

Overall I had a good time and your fans were very gracious.

Glad you and the other North Texas fans had a good time at Ruston. I wish the outcome of the game was different, though.

I assume you're talking about the Neilson and Caruthers dorms just south of the railroad tracks. Those dorms are being demolished, and the grounds will be turned into a green space and intramural fields after the demolition is complete.

Also, if you saw a big white building nearby south of the tracks, that is the old natatorium. It was decommissioned when two new swimming pools (one indoor pool and out outdoor pool) were constructed as part of the Intramural Center expansion across the street from the stadium. I believe the old natatorium will be remodeled into student organization offices and learning spaces, but don't quote me on that.

The part of the campus just south of the stadium across the railroad tracks doesn't look pretty, but it will look much better when those two old dorms finally come down.

We did. We travel very well. We're probably the best traveling fanbase in CUSA. We sold out our allotment for UH last year and came damn close for Tulane.

I'm not saying we are the best, but UTSA had over 5 thousand fans at Rice last year. You will see how well we travel when we come to Denton.

also I don't know the number for sure, but I think we had around a thousand in El Paso this year.

We once took right at 20,000 traveling Mean Green fans to a UT-Austin game before our leaders went into a 2 1/2 decade brain freeze mode after we lost a high profile coach to a Big 10 school. Until McCarney came along, they (for the most part) didn't have a clue on who to hire for our football program.

UTSA will one day have that same experience but the best part is that means your guy had it going on enough as to where one of the Big Boys were interested. IMHO, Coach Dan McCarney is the best hire we've had since Hayden Fry and at his age (60) we might be able to keep him longer and, Irish Rowdy............we will give UTSA a most warm welcome to Apogee Stadium next month.05-mafia03-lmfao

Good luck with the rest of your season, UTSA, until, well, you know. 05-nono

PS: It will also be good to see La Tech and USM get back to their Top 25 form, too. We all need to shoot for Top 25...seems one of the MAC schools reaches that goal every year.

Seems like the old WAC and the current Mountain West Conference reached the goal every year as well.

It's also nice for Louisiana Tech to have North Texas and Southern Miss as rivals. I'm looking forward to traveling to Hattiesburg and Denton next year...hopefully with a better team than this year's.

He probably called you that because he knows nothing about football or athletics in general.
They were all greeks. They always dress up during homecoming.

Unfortunately our pa guy is very small time.I think he had a cold or something too because he didn't sound like himself for most of the game.

Nothing sounded right because Trace Adkins blew out our sub woofers during pregame. That is not a joke either. Lots of complaints about the loudness of the video board, but it was simply too harsh with no bass. 05-ban

I passed thru both Ruston and Denton on that game day headed to Colorado. I saw some of both UNT and Tech fans on the way.

RE: North Texas @ LaTech
Well, I am a fan of La Tech alum Trace Adkins; play much of his music at wedding receptions I DJ out here in the wild, wild west but mostly appreciate his work with Wounded Warriors. In fact, one of my DJ's has a weekend gig 2 x's a year with Wounded Warriors as far as setting up all their sound.

And on the North Texas State thing from the PA guy? That is our creation--no one elses. Fact remains that we still had our best national intercollegiate football years under that name, the most consecutive football seasons win streak and is why some (but now so much fewer)) still call us NTS. Should they here in 2013? Well, most sports types can remember all others stats, facts and data in the NCAA so knowing that the 4'th largest university in Texas (one day to be 3'rd largest) had a name change over a quarter century ago probably needs to be added to all of their memory banks.

Breaking News & Lagniape:

Aledo High School (Texas) 10 minutes away from this computer just made Fox & Friends minutes ago. They beat a Fort Worth HS (Western Hills) quite significantly and the AHS coach has now been called a bully.

Still trying to get on the health care hotline which says it is now down for the next 2-3 days. Can anyone still not understand that a community organizer with the gift of endless & non-stop jibberish does not translate to a nation organizer yet? My main guy, ie, Herman Cain would have been so much more history-making as well as a much more organized, real authentic bonafide American capitalist, too. He was actually a major business CEO at one time. Imagine that? A real business man in the White House? What a concept! The world is laughing at us, America, while we have a president who thinks his health care folly is going to be his legacy? Well, I think it will be just that.

RE: North Texas @ LaTech
Here's what I remember about Aledo HS. Years ago when I was coaching HS baseball in east Texas and trying to determine who we might play in the playoffs, I read an article of how they lost their one game playoff. In the final inning they were down by 1 run but had the bases loaded with no outs. Odds say they should be able to get at least one run in ... if not get a few batters to try to win the game. Instead, they lost on one pitch. A fly ball to left field caught for one out ... runner on 3rd tags and is thrown out at the plate for out two ... runner on second stayed at second but the runner on first tagged and went to second which led to a rundown for the final out. Imagine you're an Aledo HS senior and your high school career ends in such an abrupt manner. Tough!

On a side note: I don't think Herman Cain would make a good president. I don't think he would have been able to handle the politics required to get things done.

Guess that is why this is an opinion board?

And "get things done" (that's sweet) and like who is getting things done now? [/quote]

Exactly.
