Tickets were a horrible idea...If I were a recruit I would be thinking "why isn't this place packed?"

Tickets were FEF's idea for crowd control, for safety reasons. With tix in hand, crowd will arrive late, just like at games. See, crowd control is working. :)

P.S. It will fill up more.

who gives a $&@?, when you ticket an event and give out exactly the number of seats in the arena you ensure thousands of seats are left empty...I get it...we don't want "them" here...but this is sad...several thousand open seats.

It's sad?

12-15,000 people show up to watch a practice on a Friday night in a city with a number of other things to do after they stood in long lines days before the event and it's "sad"? What a pathetic attitude.

If there really is that many, it still is not completely full with people being turned away like in past years. A good crowd no doubt, but having to close the doors because the Fire Marshall tells you to is what we have experienced in the past. I was afraid to make the drive down without a ticket because I didn't want to drive down and be told I could not get in, while plenty of empty seats were inside. My work schedule kept me from getting to Ashely this week and there was so much confusion from every source as to what to expect when we arrived without tickets. I believe a plan is needed if the Forum wants the school to use tickets, but deciding less that two weeks before the event did not allow the process to work properly.

I have not gone in recent years because I honestly don't like the atmosphere that 'show up and come in' provides. It just gives people somewhere to go and 'hang out' and cause trouble. More people just standing around in the lobby until they saw whoever that year's rapper was and then went back to standing around. No interest in basketball.

I'd rather have it sold out with "them" at the event instead of the snooze fest I sat through tonight...horrible...just horrible.

A has been in jimi Jamison and something called Electrolux or Illuminati running around in light up jackets?

and Bruce $&@?ing Pearl? God...just kill me.

UofM doesn't know what he's talking about. I just left and at the peak when the Men's Tiger Team was being announced, it was packed with probably a thousand or so not there. It was an late arriving crowd

Hope the recruits liked it because I for one was disappointed. Too much down time and stupid games. Entertainment was a miss. Would've been better off with just the cheerleaders, player intros and scrimmage.

I liked Pearl though.

Waaaay more than a thousand empty seats. It turned out okay by the time it started but still too many empty seats.

It was far less than 6,000 empty seats and that's a fact

When has it ever been completely full? This same conversation came up last year - "It was sooo empty!", "Nah, probably a 1000 or so empty seats. Still awesome turnout.", "Way more than 1000. Very disappointed".

~300 days will pass and we'll start the cycle over.

Step 1) Hear about the recruits coming.
Step 2) Hear rumors about JT being in town.
Step 3) Everyone convinces themselves JT is coming, along with his posse of A-List celebrities.
Step 4) JT and his posse don't come, but 14-16,000 people do come, there's some form of entertainment, it impresses recruits from step 1.
Step 5) People argue about attendance and the performer: Person A says it was full. Person B says it was half empty. Person C says 1,000 seats were empty. Person D says it was way more than what Person C said. 20% of people say that Pastner/(Current AD)/Fred Smith failed to get a performer that connects to recruits. 24 hours later, nobody cares.
Step 6) People who don't waste their time being negative or arguing with the people who want to be negative say they had a great time.
Step 7) Some recruit commits and says Memphis Madness was a reason.
----
Wait ~300 days and start over at step 1.

It wasn't full but it was an impressive turnout for a first time ticketed madness.
