Not the band, just one kid. And not frat boys plural, just one. Beat up is a little harsh. Broke his nose is accurate.

The frat boy incident had nothing to do with W&M trying to keep the MRDs off the field in Williamsburg. It was all about their students & alums getting butt-hurt.

In 2005 (I think), the entire marching band traveled to Williamsburg for what proved to be the last time ever. I was in the trombone section. W&M & JMU were both having sub-par years where neither were in the playoffs. Both fanbases were still pretty juiced from the two meetings the previous season. After our postgame performance, we marched in formation back to the buses @ the W&M Hall lot. As we passed by Greek Row, I hear a clang behind me. Turns out, a frat kid had tossed a bottle into the section & hit one of my freshman in the head. Well, they hit the wrong freshman. He handed his instrument to another MRD, strolled up & clocked the dude in the nose. Lots of blood. In the end, nothing happened besides the frat kid getting his nose broken. What's he going to do, call the police & report that he got owned by a kid in the marching band?
This story is NOT hyperbole. There are multiple people on this board who can vouch for it.
Okay, got it. Don't mess with the band. I will be cheering louding at every halftime from here on out. I like my nose.

that is one of the coolest stories I have heard in a while. I only wish I had witnessed it myself. I wonder where "Bif" is today and if he ever lived that down. I am sure he is married to Muffy by now.

They make a little blue pill for that. But, if your teepee last for longer than 4 hours, you should consult your doctor.
Sound medical advice.
This is off topic, but ...
Longhorn,
Congrats to your Texas University team for beating the mighty Sooners last week. I can admit a beat down when I see one.

I can vouch for this. My brother was a Lambda Chi at W&M, and their house is on the end of Greek Row. I was parked in the small parking lot in front of his house, pulling out onto the road. I was waiting for the band to march by, playing our fight song, and saw the entire incident near the intersection where you turn in front of W&M Hall to go to the buses. That W&M kid had no idea he was about to get his a$$ kicked by a trombone player until he was bleeding.

That being said, any one going from Richmond that enjoys tailgating and standing up at the games? I don't mind driving and there's plenty of room in the back of my truck for whatever tailgating supplies.
Why isn't JMU running a student bus if there are 100 tickets left? This morning W&M had about 60 tickets in the section next to us available. Come on Bourne, get up the bus!

And one other note about those W&M d!cks, my wife, sister in law and I had footballs thrown at us in two different incidents on the way to the stadium. Not a big deal - EXCEPT BOTH WOMEN WERE VISIBLY PREGNANT, AND TARGETED BY THE JACKA$$ES THROWING THE FOOTBALLS. My wife was 6 months pregnant, my sister in law 7 months. What kind of person chucks a football at a pregnant lady? They lost both footballs, one guy took off running into his frat house to hide (I shoved his football down a sewer drain) and the other came from a large group so I couldn't figure out exactly who did it. I can't ever say App. St. fans were any worse than W&M fans that day.

read the trash the W&M fans are posting on CAA Message Board. I can't believe that we did not sell all of our tickets.
Also saying that it will be less JMU fans throwing streamers such a high school celebration

The funny thing is, I get along fine with W&M folks. It was just a product of how mad they were that we were winning when it hurt the most. At the time, I got mad & painted them all with a broad brush for a while. Now, they're fine by me.

W&M fans are fine generally. Delaware fans are the worst of the CAA. During the tailgate this year I was told to fellate one guy and lick another's as$ and one of the guys in my crew at the game had a mechanical pencil thrown at him...who the hell brings a mechanical pencil to a football game?
What is wrong with these people?

RE: @William and Mary - 10/26/13
I really didn't know the UD people were that bad. Simply hadn't experienced it as I've only been to a home game against them. I've witnessed a few bad JMU fans, but only during the 2008 playoff run. It appeared they were locals and not associated with JMU other than being fans.
I probably got under the skin of some Tech fans in 2010. I was sitting on the 50 right in the middle of Tech Alumni. It was hard to hold back as every play in that forth quarter seemed to go our way. I definitely didn't direct anything towards anyone, only did an enormous amount of "ROOTIN" and left some purple Bud Lite cans in some very difficult places to get to, but very visible, after the game.
As far as W&M or Appy, never a problem and I've been to every Appy game I think we've ever played against them. ODU, well, I have no use for them, and its fun to pick on the ticks.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, JMU did not send back any tickets and still has a few of their 1,000 still available for purchase.

Can't believe how much we are spending for this game. My fam + 2 in-laws = 7 paid for tix plus a baby. At $30 a pop, that was a little hit to the wallet. Time to ruin their homecomin a la RU of years past.

Yeah, I took a nice hit buying 10 tix through JMU. Luckily, I'm only covering a couple of them. Yesolitis, feel free to stop by the teepeegate if you can. We are a kind & generous people.
