You beat me too it....
And since Bulldog started the whole transitive comparison with JMU/UD vs Maine/UD vs Maine/RU, RU put up less points on VMI (34) than Div II N. Greenville and Robert Morris did (both put up 37).

All I know is their jerseys say Richmond, and when we play Richmond, weird things happen and for the most part, you can throw out each team's record/rankings.

There are some weird things going on down south. A lot more anomalies than we have seen in our more predictable conference. Gardner-Webb is good! They have lost only to Marshall and surprisingly, Charlotte. They have beaten Wofford, Richmond, and Furman. I believe their game against Charlotte was a trap game. They lost by 2 points in a 53-51 shootout, and lost the turnover battle 3-0. Weird things happen. Look at Wofford. They have been beaten only by Baylor and Gardner-Webb, and beat Georgia Southern by 10. Like I said, weird things happening down south, much less predictable than the CAA, in my opinion.

Maybe you guys are right. We will just have to wait and see. One thing is certain, you all have MUCH more confidence in this team than I do.

Agree with 06... predicting a RU vs JMU tilt is mystical... the college football version of a wormhole. Strange things happen.

One thing is for sure. If we ever do move up, I'll miss the tense matchups w/ Richmond. Always seems to be an evenly matched game. And despite the grief that gets hurled their way, the old "red sweaters" travel pretty well- especially for a school of their size.

RE: Ticks @ JMU discussion
The game last yr seemed like what could go wrong did go wrong, and JMU only lost by 6. Things couldn't go much worse than they did for JMU last yr. JMU is due for some good karma in this matchup. One of the reasons I am optimistic about this game.
2nd qtr, JMU 2nd and 9 at the UR 18 JT throws INT. UR drives and gets FG: 6-10 point swing.
2nd qtr: JMU 2nd and 5 at UR 42, JT throws INT, leads to UR TD, misses PAT: 6 point swing.
3rd qtr: UR 3rd and 8 at the JMU 18, Robertson levels UR TE as he's catching the ball, personal foul for that BS defenseless receiver rule, UR 1st down at JMU 8, goes on to score TD: minimum 4 point swing.
3rd qtr: UR 2nd and 10 at JMU 44, Sage Harold drops a SURE pick 6. UR goes on to score TD, missed PAT, 13 point swing.

Rain will be a factor this weekend. I'd say it would benefit the Dukes .......

According to Stoss, Mickey isn't commenting on injuries this week so that RU won't know who is and isn't playing.

Noaa says 20%. I use NOAA for my business. They control the models, and they are govt run, which is usually bad, however in the case of weather it is good because they are not in the business of sensationalizing.
Noaa is who issues Watches and Warnings, the others just report.

Weather Channel says chance of rain only 20%. Good. I want to win without benefit of the weather. In fact I spit in the face of the weather while simultaneously squashing spiders with the muddy heel of my boot.

RE: Ticks @ JMU discussion
Why would people want rain for this game?? I understand it could slow down their passing attack but the effect of that is debatable. With lots of rain, students and even many alumni wouldn't show up. I'd rather face their passing attack full force but with a full house, than hampered by the rain in front of a smaller crowd.
With that said, I'm rootin. Go Dukes.

Some coaches own other coaches. Mickey owns Rocco. Dukes win.

RE: Ticks @ JMU discussion
1) Fast paced offense, not the sometimes fast version we've done lately. Ignore those "fake blitzes" that seem to derail our speed offense.
2) No lining up for 2 point conversions until the game is on the line.
3) Cover the scoreboard so Mickey can't see it. He's kind of forgetful and if we're leading at halftime, maybe he won't remember and will be even more aggressive in the 2nd half.
4) Open up the playbook. If these guys don't have it by now they're not going to ever get it. Saving plays "for later" is overrated.
5) 5 or fewer penalties. We seem to get totally out of rhythm w/ even the slightest of infractions.
This is all I ask. Please do it.

Its not even debatable that a steady rain and wind have a negative effect on a passing game.
I'd rather win in front of 10k than lose in front of 20k....
