This is a combination of a 03-hissyfit and a 03-yawn.

It appears that there has been a partial shut down of the federal government and much to the dismay of the party of the petulant, tain't nobody really caring, or even noticing.

The Fed gov't closes every Friday afternoon for around 60 hours or so and we all seem to get along just fine. The horror, how will we ever manage now?

My sister-in-law who works for the Botanical Gardens in DC and her husband, a retired navy veteran now working for the navy via a government contractor both are not working or getting paid. They, along with nearly 800,000 other folks have no income coming in. They are therefore likely spending less money.

My step-son, who is in the navy in Jacksonville, is now doing the work of several civilian workers who are no longer working in addition to his own.

But other than that, no...you're right...no one has noticed a thing.

Maybe take advantage of the time off to find essential jobs.

And all the researchers on govt grants who will see a delay in fund disbursement? Or field researchers with time sensitive work? Are these not essential?

Yes.

Positive Rep me and I'll vote for Obama in 2016

They can't continue their work? I have a delay in getting paid. Always have.

There is a bill in front of the senate that Reid could pass this minute to extend things six more weeks.

We elected them to shut down our govt? ...... huh?

The GOP didn't shut down the government, Reid and Obama did.

This is the first time the GOP leadership has managed to stumble into a major policy change I approve of. The fact that all you liberals are running around with your hair on fire only vindicates the position for me. Even the blind Boehner squirrel finds the occasional policy nut. This shut down is his found nut.

I know gts,

Every time an elected democrat breaks out jihad and suicide bomber rhetoric it only validates what the GOP is going. Like you think think this is an accident on their part.
