This is a combination of a 03-hissyfit and a 03-yawn.

It appears that there has been a partial shut down of the federal government and much to the dismay of the party of the petulant, tain't nobody really caring, or even noticing.

The Fed gov't closes every Friday afternoon for around 60 hours or so and we all seem to get along just fine. The horror, how will we ever manage now?

My sister-in-law who works for the Botanical Gardens in DC and her husband, a retired navy veteran now working for the navy via a government contractor both are not working or getting paid. They, along with nearly 800,000 other folks have no income coming in. They are therefore likely spending less money.

My step-son, who is in the navy in Jacksonville, is now doing the work of several civilian workers who are no longer working in addition to his own.

But other than that, no...you're right...no one has noticed a thing.

What could Obama possibly give Boehner now. It's a Mexican standoff. Whoever loses here really loses ground on the next one. And that's the BIGGEST one.

Maybe not a Mexican standoff because "we". The public isn't holding a gun. Make us the hostage.

Of course over the last five years, while ordinary Americans were losing jobs right and left, and unable to find replacement work in a flat economy, they just rocked along with no danger of losing theirs. Turn about is fair play.

I call bull****. Got a link to your sister in law and her story? What's you step-sons name? If you're going to post something that others are to just take seriously, I need something a little more solid than just "I said so".

Get over yourself, Tom. You're not that important. If we want to know what you're thinking, we'll go read HuffPo and TPM ourselves to find the dem talking points.

While the rest of the nation has suffered and their incomes slipped, Washington D.C. was booming, excitedly spending other people's money like - yes - drunken sailors. It's time that those in D.C. started to feel the pain that they have inflicted on this nation for themselves.

A short term bill (6weeks or so), gets us nowhere and Reid and Obama already said no to that. Ping-pong is over.

And all the researchers on govt grants who will see a delay in fund disbursement? Or field researchers with time sensitive work? Are these not essential?
