If you cover them, we dont have anybody who has proved they can catch the ball.

Backman at TE is a legitimate threat.

No, I've noticed a Staples and Nelson, and am estatic about it. Imagine if we still had Williams to go along with that. I will bet my paycheck that Jackies attitude problem had loads to do with the new guy coming in a getting all love from McGee before ever having proved anything on the field. All other arguements aside, one of the best wr in the conf. and school history is no longer here and the catalyst for that won't see the field this year or probably ever.
Just seems like another botched coin toss if u ask me. But as I'm sure MB will point out, no one did.

He's got 8 catches for 104 yards and a TD in 2 and half games. Sorry you missed it.

5 of those catches were against NWSU.

He got kicked out of the Troy game before he had to chance to catch very many.

For me, that was the turning point in the Troy game.

I wasn't saying that Backman isn't any good, but he only had 23 receptions last year. Not sure how many targets/incompletions he has had. I don't think he is much a part of the game plan as Mcgee has said he is and how important we think he is to the offense has been in reality. Based on how much we have used him. Which is not very much.

A lot of what he has said hasn't been shown on the field.

Guess you missed Jeffery Anderson's career.

Now THERE was a shamefully under-used weapon at tight end.

+1
I think McGee is a three-four wide out type of guy, a lot of single back formations. Power here and there but he's still a young head coach can't wait to see how he divide the carries when B. Coles get back three power backs all tough to bring down.

Well the bright side is that people have something else to blame McGee for.

Don't forget Reaves or Franklin out of the backfield.

I think Bashr would still be 3rd back as I see it, it's Reaves/Howard/Franklin & when Bashr comes back I assume he'd take Franklin's carries based on what I've seen of what might be offensive philosopy so far but Franklin would be pass catcher out of backfield or maybe motion out to 4th WR vs LB mismatch.

I prefer to think of it as, you have something else to try and defend him for.

RE: Champlin: Humphrey ineligible for 2013
If we would run the FN ball and play to our strengths, we won't need any more than 2 or 3 WRs, as there won't be any room on the field for more than 3.

It's funny...I felt like we should have run the ball at least 10 more times than we did...and then noticed on the box score that our stat line was very balanced. If we build a power running team and can build one half of a defense we will compete for division titles.

I completely understand what Stache is trying to do strategically...and it will work. But we need to stop having one WTF per game. I'm expecting us to punt on 3rd and 7 tomorrow.
