RE: Champlin: Humphrey ineligible for 2013
The article doesn't get into the reasoning behind this. I'm not really familiar with the back story. Is there any good reason for the NCAA to declare him ineligible, or is this just another arbitrary NCAA decision?

When you sit out a year, do you actually have to be on a roster for it to count?

Oh well. Will he will stick it out and play next year? I wish we weren't faced with eligibility issues like this and wonder if more due-diligence on the part of the recruiting staff would avoid such problems.

RE: Champlin: Humphrey ineligible for 2013
More than likely, a class or two did not transfer, thereby not giving him enough credits to be eligible.

I suspect that he would have enough credits for next year to play.

I believe if he has enough credits next year, he could play.

The "sitting out a year" part has been taken care of.

One year with no playing time + one year of very minimal playing time (6 kickoff returns in two games, no receptions) + one year out of football + one year ineligible = De facto 5th year freshman. Let's hope he still has an "edge" next season.

Looks like chances of competing for a title this year are getting smaller as the season rolls on. Win cusa with what we have anyways and Go get Kenric Young and Demarcus Bingham. Sale them on early playing time.

Why would they come here? They probably know top WR's get treated around here.

This. I had a feeling when he left it would end up this way. Grades and eligibility at Ark doesn't translate to the same here. You think someone would have confirmed that. I guess I'm just being negative instead of realistic.

Enter Conspiracy Theory about how since Humphrey would be a superstar in C-USA, since his daddy was in the SEC, so someone pulled a few strings to make sure he never saw the field.

Look at the position as a whole since McGee got here its certainly more to it. I felt something/someone missing the first game of the season you know the one we lost. Looking at what we currently have alot of guys now gotta grow quickly instead of watching a seasoned vet show you how its done. Stupid move period, there are some more stupid personnel moves that shows McGee still doesn't know his players.

We are still pretty strong at WR. Nelson and Staples have proven to be good. The coaching staff is high on N. Height's potential. Plus 5-6 other WR's who caught passes in the 2 pre-season scrimmages.

I was actually expecting him to not be cleared to play til next week since our biggest games would be behind us.

I thought he was going to get cleared in time for CUSA games.

If you cover them, we dont have anybody who has proved they can catch the ball.

Our problem hasn't been scoring.

Outside of wondering why Nolen Smith isn't in there more, I haven't questioned any of the WR play.

They have been fantastic, and Staples is a true freshman!
