We won 2 shares of the BE title our first 9 years of 1-A ball and earned a BCS bowl trip (heck with the Fiesta Bowl attendance issue and the media perception of whether we deserved it or not). We were fortunate to have a good young coach to build the program (Edsall) before he bolted and this walking corpse got hired (PP). Plus the success of our hoops programs should have given us SOME equity. The only thing we lacked was long football 1-A level tradition. You could find a boatload of BCS schools that are bottom-feeders year in & out, yet have the seat at the big boy table. How did they earn their way there exactly?

UConn became FBS and then joined the Big East in 2004. While Edsall was coach, we won two Big East championships (not bad for a program just moving up), won several bowls, consistently sold out our stadium (40,000). Now we are burdened with a bad coach who will be gone in December.

I'll take UConn's academics, athletics, campus, and student body over that of Memphis any day. You are an a$$.
