Re: The D
Let me be clear... I am not complaining about our conference affiliation, just pointing out that it is not a strong conference right now and we could be a top 3 team next year. ECU is the best team and we hung with them... and they'll be gone. There is potential in the future for the conference, but last time I looked it was ranked below the slum belt.

I agree.... but I have pulled out my cot and grabbed a soft pillow and plan to rest here for awhile.

RE: The D
When I look at the D now, I see 5 or 6 guys that will likely be All CUSA caliber players in 2015 when we are completely bowl eligible. I can't find that on the offense, but I'm sure guys will step up after graduation.

I'm like some others on here as well, I have more confidence in the D's transition to a 12 game FBS schedule than I do the offense. NOT that I don't have confidence in the offense or system, but there is a lot of young talent on D and I can see progress and know that it will translate.

RE: The D
Tough to find that on offense because offense is a bit more seasoned and the youngsters aren't getting a heck of a lot of PT.

RE: The D
First our coach was a qb..he knows how to recruit that line. Our qb coach does too. Not worried about it. It will take time.

Second dline..I know it will make sense to some but I was happy with the aggressive flags. You can't teach a kid to calm down but its hard to teach them to fight. Our coaches are getting the fight in them. In many ways by next year this a developed trait for our line. And it will be welcomed.

Now get the routes down and eat more sandwichs.

RE: The D
In regard to a question I posed to a friend of mine last year who played more than 10 years in the NFL comparing offensive and defensive linemen in regard to availability. He stated his recollection
was offensive linemen earned much less because there were many more competent ones available. My point is that hopefully that will address the
concern about the number of upper classmen on the offensive line
currently.

The defense did well against the pass, but keep in mind they had no Street. However, props to Nagy for making Boyd a non-factor.

I'm still not thrilled that we gave up 250+ rushing yards. That needs to be addressed somehow. Hopefully next year we have a better time controlling the line of scrimmage.

The talk coming away from Pitt should really be about the o-line. Yes, they had too many penalties, but holy cow did they impress me against that Pitt front seven.

Bobby Wilder will dip into the junior college pool as need be,as he has done in the past. to fill these offensive and defensive line needs. I was once told by a virginia state champion coach that nothing is wrong with doing this. University of Southern California "USC" built a championship team once using the junior college system.

To play Devil's Advocate, that QB Savage either sucked or was having a bad game. He threw a lot of balls into the ground and the majority of his incompletions were unforced errors. Defense looked better, but they weren't exactly up against Oregon or Baylor.

RE: The D
Savage is not great to start with.
Couple that with the absence of Street and Conner, and he seemed lost at times.
Street is by far his primary go-to guy.

As noted above, we gave up a lot of yards to their #2. That is even more concerning because the OLine of Pitt is not all that good.

Norfolk State's starting running back was Kentucky Gatorade POY, went to Boston College, ran for over 200 yards against Maryland and has multiple 100 yard games this year for NSU. He may be as talented as any RB we've faced.

I wanna laugh, if he only had an Oline and knew what QB would be handing him the ball!!! He could be even better.

I wouldn't laugh too hard. Good running backs have run all over us this year.

But I see your point, they look to be one dimensional and we should be able to stop that type of team.

Talking about their QBs... Under Coach Pete they have always lacked a good QB. They had Casey Hansen 06 and 07 who was pretty good but even he was a JUCO from CA. His highly recruited QB was Dexter Merritt who blew his knee out at Oscar Smith 4 games in to his senior year which opened the door for Philip Sims never lived up to the hype
