RE: CAA Football Predictions - Week 4
Towson (3-0) @ North Carolina Central (2-1) 2pm
Stony Brook (1-1) @ Villanova (0-2) 3pm
Maine (3-0) @ #18 Northwestern (3-0) 3:30pm Big Ten Network
Charlotte (2-1) @ James Madison (2-1) 6pm MadiZONE
Wagner (1-2) @ Delaware (2-1) 6pm
Liberty (2-1) @ Richmond (1-2) 6pm
Central Connecticut State (0-3) @ Albany (1-2) 7pm
Rhode Island (1-2) @ William & Mary (2-1) 7pm

18-10 overall. 7-2 last week along with just about everyone else.

Liberty vs. Richmond is an interesting one. I didn't see any of RU's loss, but I would suspect they were a little hungover from almost beating NC State the week before. I feel like I should pick them because they'll want to beat the crap out of someone and put last week behind them.

OTOH, there are probably a lot of Juniors and Seniors now starting for Liberty which were recruited by Rocco prior to him bolting. I would think they'll play inspired to try and stick it to their old coach.

Ultimately I'm going to go with RU due to their home field disadvantage. Liberty is probably not used to playing in front of deafening silence and that'll spook them just enough to let the eight legged freaks slip by.

Lot of games that are more interesting than they appear for those that follow FCS really closely on this week's slate. Towson's too good but I'm curious about NC Central after they beat App.
Stony Brook/Villanova in a rematch of the playoff game won by SB, but Nova is desparate and at home off a bye.
Wagner was an oddly strong playoff team at the end of last season, which was especially impressive given their location (Staten Island) and difficult circumstances they were dealing with (Sandy pretty much shut down their campus for weeks). They've had a head-scratching start, but UD hasn't done anything yet to think they warrant being a heavy favorite.
CCSU/Albany - isn't this an old conference matchup?

I'm really interested in the CCSU/Albany game. Personally, I thought CCSU was a pretty good team ... they did a lot of things well. With Albany coming in Oct 5th, this week's match-up would be a good barometer game.

Like you noted PS ... these other two games with Towson and SB hold a lot of interest too.

RE: CAA Football Predictions - Week 4
I definitely don't think Nova is on the ropes. They lost to an FBS team and @Fordham, and in case you haven't checked, Fordham stomped URI, Beat Nova, and won @Temple. Fordham is actually good. No reason to think Nova won't still be near the top of the CAA at the end of the season. Also, Stony Brook didn't look that good against URI. The real difference maker in that game were the 3 URI turnovers.

It was North Carolina A&T that beat App (and Elon). NC Central has beaten old CIAA rival St. Augustine's and Charlotte while getting blown out by Duke.

That said, they're not a horrible team and they're at home, so they could keep it close.

RE: CAA Football Predictions - Week 4
Predicting 6 lopsided (more than 2 TDs) to blowout games and 3 good ones (2 TDs or less).
.
SBU @ Nova could be a good one.

On the one hand, Nova is banged up. Were missing up to 6 defensive starters in their loss @ a good Fordham team 27-24. After their bye week will still be missing at least 1 starting LB and starting safety.
http://www.vuhoops.com/villanova-vs-ford...on-college
Also turned the ball over 6x:
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/sbna...ctory.html

HOWEVER, Nova is:
-@ home
-coming off a bye
-seeking revenge for last season's playoff loss (yeah I know MM said revenge is overrated, but just threw that in there).
-desperate. Fall to 0-3 and their playoff hopes are very remote..

SBU:
-3rd straight road game
-coming off devastating 5OT loss @ Buffalo.

CCSU @ Albany could be a good one.

Liberty @ RU I think will be the best game. RU is pretty much in the same boat as Nova. Fall to 1-3, and their playoff hopes will be pretty slim. While it would be great to see RU lose to Fallwell U (or lose to anyone for that matter) all that will do is hurt JMU's SOS..

RE: CAA Football Predictions - Week 4
FINALLY! We have four winners this week with perfect predictions. Albany really screwed most of us and they're the new URI of the CAA. I'll pick them to win... when I actually see them win. They'll be the doormat of the CAA this season, no doubt.

Duke Dawg, JMU08, JMU_71 and Purplestreamers all picked correctly.

RE: CAA Football Predictions - Week 4
Heck, If I knew Marcus Coker was out for SBU (I didn't) I would have changed my prediction from Nova by 1-2 TDs to Nova by 3-4 TDs. Nova being at home, coming off a bye, and SBU coming off that 5OT loss @ Buffalo, then losing Coker, they probably didn't have a prayer, even with Nova's injuries.

If would have been ridiculous for anyone to pick SBU sans Coker, but I doubt anyone who picked SBU (seems was about half the people here) knew Coker wasn't going to play.

If Coker is done for the season, SBU is done as far as being a playoff contender, much less a CAA contender. They may very well finish with a losing record.
