Is that really what happens? Why in the hell would you waste a fall weekend at home when you could enjoy all that is JMU undergrad on the weekends? Man, I'm losing touch with the kids.
Yeah a lot of kids end up going home for a weekend around this time. Remember, freshmen are still living a weird double life this early in their college careers. They're making a ton of new friends but they're still close with all their friends from high school, so going home is fun because they get to see "home friends."
They'll learn that JMU is the place to be though and they'll stop going home as often.

I think everyone is getting antsy because we have FBS on the brain too much. Attendance like Saturday is in no way the norm. Typically we draw over 20,000 at home. FBS conference officials will be looking at extensive cumulative data on our attendance and will not be swayed by a single rain soaked game. Furthermore, I think the rain was a big issue, and also the fact it was a night game on top of it. The students typically show up in bigger numbers for the afternoon games, because it gives them enough time to leave early and get dressed up for a night of partying, drinking, and general college debauchery. In no way will this be a reflection of our FBS readiness for FBS officials, and I expect attendance to be packed come family weekend.
