The Revs. Jackson and Sharpton “give me the creeps,” Kennedy writes in a July 5 entry.

“Al Sharpton has done more damage to the black cause than [segregationist Alabama Gov.] George Wallace. He has suffocated the decent black leaders in New York,” he says. “His transparent venal blackmail and extortion schemes taint all black leadership.”

Rev. Al Sharpton gave Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “the creeps,” he wrote in his diary.

He goes on to call Sharpton a “buffoon” who has never escaped the “stench” of his advocacy for Tawana Brawley, the black Dutchess County teen who fabricated a story about six white men raping her in 1987.

I think he has done absolutely nothing to help, but he's just the type of person that the media can't stay away from. He gets white people more riled than black with his more routine shenanigans. He is what he is though: a greasy, sleazy "preacher man" with a microphone and an entourage. He came in way after the Civil Rights Movement and somehow became a "leader".

He destroyed people's lives with the Tawana Brawley fiasco. He's has civil judgements against him over 20 years old that he hasn't paid a dime on.

He's a contemptible human being who deserves the thing he fears most: to be ignored.

Your fans can only get you so far. To quote a T-shirt I once saw, "Haters make you famous".

If it were only Al and his followers, he'd be a nobody. The media knows that he'd get attention and they'd get viewership from those who dislike him enough to complain about him. Have you ever noticed that nobody that you'd probably consider to be on his side mentions him? Nobody posts a story. Nobody clicks a link, leading to lackluster ratings and hit counts.

If people who hated him would just ignore him like everyone else, he'd fade into obscurity.

I agree. A huckster's bread-and-butter is attention, he mostly gets it from the people who hate him.

It's an evolving opinion by RFK Jr. Soon he'll be calling them great civil rights leaders.

I'm impressed that RFK Jr. put such an opinion (about Sharpton and Jackson) in writing, even if it was his own private diary.

Now, if only more liberals had been willing to say those things out loud over the past ~20 years, it could have actually helped.
