However, I think they missed the mark on the seating angle. Great stadiums have steep seating angles as close to the field as possible.I think Charlotte will be a worthy road trip destination next year and intend to be there.

They'll probably say the same about BFS simply because they'll be over on the Godwin side. Remembering back to those days, if you were on the 30 yard line, or further from mid-field, you had no way of telling if a TD was made on the opposite end of the field.

It sort of seems Charlotte's seating might be the same. Steep seating angles help prevent this. In addition, your view is never blocked by a person in front of you with a greater angle. But, I do agree, all-in-all its a very nice stadium with the future in mind.

I'm hopping we don't forget this with the new Convo.

Seating angle was determined by the level of solid rock under our field. The current field level is literally two feet above a solid sheet of granite and diorite. When they excavated the bowl they found two large rocks they had to blast out. Having my seats on row 12, I can tell you that the sight lines are pretty decent.

I can believe you about the rock situation. I live about 3 - 4 miles from your campus and my home is literally built on top of one big rock. They have to blast to build homes around that area. Its the same up at the speedway area. We built a race shop up there back in the early '90's and had to spend $30k blasting before we could start building.

That's one of the things about BFS. You can't see it from pictures but it looks a lot bigger than it is because there is ample room between rows. This is good and bad. If you've ever been to Keenan stadium at UNC, it's an adventure just to try to get to the restroom during the end of the quarter or a TO. BFS is very easy. I think I'd take the BFS design and take a higher seat than not being able to get down the row.

Kenan has a problem that a lot of old stadiums have, no leg room. I guess they assume all their fans are smurfs in Chapel Hill.

Also, the visitors section being on the surface of the sun is a bit inconvenient.

My wife and I went to Kenan for the JMU-UNC game two years ago when the younger daughter was a freshman and a member of the MRD's. We sat next to the band and I swear you had absolutely no room from your seat to the row in front of you. The Pep band that played at the game (250 or so if I recall) was so cramped they could not fit the members in the seats that were blocked out for them. About 1/3 of the band was standing in the aisles. Particularly the sousaphone players. The worst thing was the bathrooms. In the mens room the urinals were so close together you practically had to stand sideways to use them otherwise you were literally elbow to elbow to the guys on either side. As bad as that was noting comes close to the mens rooms at old City Stadium in Richmond. Won't even talk about that.

Love BFS. Plenty of room to move around, good leg room and nice bathrooms. I imagine lots of schools would kill for some of the amenities we have.

Go Dukes!!

It can't be worse than the feeding troughs they use as urinals at Vag Tech. Line em up boys.

Or how about the "wall" at Delaware's stadium.

The one mens room I used at City Stadium was a wall with water running down it into a trough. Most disgusting thing I had ever seen. Don't recall what Delaware was like though!!!

That was what they had at Delaware. A big room with water running down three walls into a channel on the floor.

Every fan base goes through its rough losses. I did expect the score to be the other way around, but keep your head up. You've got football!
Most JMU fans will welcome you all next week. At least you're not ole dirty.

Thanks, definitely helps to think we were sitting at home last year at this time. Looking forward the atmosphere next weekend.

Don't be so sure about a loss yet. THe Dukes just had 5 straight 3 and outs against St. Francis.

we barely beat st. francis... you all have at least a 50% chance of beating us, despite the bad loss to NCCU. Ugh, what a joke that SFU game was. The kind of win that feels like a loss.

Unfortunately, the play today by Charlotte and tonight by us, will have many "fair weather" fans of both teams staying home.

I like how it is always about how bad we played and not a word about how great STFU played. Credit should be given to SFU. They played inspired football. They have some really good athletes and their man to man defense shut our receivers down. Yes, we played poorly, but even playing poorly we still blow them out if they don't play well.
