We got Richmond and Hburg '82 Grad hitting Pittsburgh tonight and driving to Akron tomorrow morning. Barley House sounds good and then trying to get into Lot 13 for game preparation. Its time to see if our football program is really FBS ready!!??

RE: Akron Roll Call: Dukes Take Over Akron
Tat checking in...
I've had an "interesting time" so far. Bus driver who took me back from the airport told me that he used to date Lebron's mother for 4 years. When I called him out on it, he stopped the bus, took out his phone, and showed me pictures of him and Lebron from when Lebron was in 8th grade. Dude was rocking a Nokia brick phone, but hey, "the proof is in the pudding." I ask him where the nearest liquor store is to where I'm staying. He tells me to walk two miles downtown for the 2nd closest one, and that the closest one would require me to "take a left"...but that I didn't want to take a left if "ya know what's good for ya."
I took the left, and well, lemme tell ya, I had a very interesting experience on MLK Blvd. Had a McDonald's bag thrown at me while walking. Then had someone flick the end of a Philly blunt at me before they sped off in a 1990 Honda Civic...but don't worry, it had tints and rims so he must be doing well for himself. I get to the liquor store where I witnessed a drug deal go on in the line in front of me. Then one of the girls involved mean mugs the **** out of me and goes "Is you a cop, *****?" I said "Nah, not for another few weeks, but I'll keep my eye out for you when I am."

Also, strangely enough, the Bowling Green football team is staying in my hotel. Weird.

MLK bvld is a four lane divided highway with on and off ramps. Are you sure you didn't end up in Cleveland by mistake?

Also, are you staying at the hotel downtown? Let me give you advice: Do not go west of Main street or north of Mill street. Not for anything.

Oops, that's what it was...West Market Street but I'm pretty sure I passed by MLK. I'm staying at city center. Went to State Line Liquor Store. As earlier noted, it was quite an experience!!
Where should we go out tonight bar/college party-wise? I'd like to pretend that I'm not 27 for a weekend.

West market is a funny thing. Just west of downtown, it's pretty sketchy. Just up the hill is the Highland Square neighborhood, which is essentially hippie central. Just past that is one of the more affluent neighborhoods, and after that is about 15 straight miles of shopping centers and malls. Go north from Highland Square and it's a veritable millionaire's row, where all the executives from FirstEnergy and Goodyear live. But inbetween all that, it really depends on the street. One street could look like the worst ghetto, and the next is well-kept three-story mansions, and then it alternates. But all that's only good if you're in a car. Walking on foot means don't go west, or north.

Try the Barley House and the bars along Main street, or if you feel like walking further, head east on Exchange street and you'll see a few bars across from campus like Thursday's, Pints, BW3s, and one or two others.
All the big parties around campus were last weekend. You missed out. Cars were flipped, and tear gas was thrown.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I passed by (on foot), a place called The Blue Diamond. I thought it was a strip club because it looked pretty run down from the outside, but then I saw the cars in the parking lot. Mercedes, Beamers, and a Maserati! Three blocks later is when the McDonald's bag almost hit me, and on my way back is when the roach almost hit me. Come to think of it, could have been the same car. Context clues: McDonalds and weed.

Good stuff, will do. And I saw the car flipping on Barstool. Felt bad for that chick...but who am I to cast stones...we've had a riot or two in our day.

Yes, but they remodeled it, renamed it, and moved it on campus:

Abort mission at Barley House. Place is beat. We're going to head on over to either Manny's or Thursday's on exchange street. We went to Manny's last night and it got weird. Cent got 4 phone numbers so I'd call it a success. We'll be at one or the other for beers before Dukes.

WOW just looked at stats page to see attendance. They said 19,653, wow if they had 5000 at the game I'd be amazed. the entire upper decks were empty except for maybe a few hundred, and most of the lower seating was empty too probably 50% full. The stadium seats 30k no way it was 70% full WOW if JMU caused that much attend boost.... They really inflated that one. Cant count and refs cant ref
