Greg Bryant, true freshman RB, Notre Dame.
5 star recruit. ND lost RB's Theo Riddick and Cierre Wood from last season.

Wasn't his high school wide receiver Wayne Gretzsky's son?

Both he and his brother, Nate, have bounced around a bit in college.
I knew that Nate Montana had "bounced around a bit". Not sure if it is quite fair to say that about Nick at this point. I'm sure he initially envisioned himself as a 2- or 3-year starter for the Huskies, but that didn't happen.
He is now playing for a coaching staff and a team that is thrilled to have him and will make him the center of the offense. If his teammates are not Pac-12 caliber athletes (and for the most part, they're not), well neither are the players for the opposing teams, with the possible exception of Syracuse.
Quote:Joe was a bit better than them as a college QB.
I do not think that Nick Montana will be able to match -- or even come close to matching -- all of his father's on-the-field accomplishments in football, be it college or pro.
But Nick's accomplishments in his first three seasons out of HS (redshirted as a freshman at Washington in '10, limited playing time in '11, JUCO in '12) no less promising than Joe's accomplishments his first three seasons at ND (freshman team in '74, limited playing time in '75, injury redshirt in '76).
Quote:Best of luck to Nick Montana.

Well, this is Nick's third school (Washington, JUCO and Tulane).
I call that "bouncing around a bit", but that is just me.
I hope he does well.

Will Gardner QB at UL.......
By November, TB and the gang will have wiped the slate with all the teams in the first 2-3 quarters and everyone nationwide will know who our 2014 quarterback will be, as they watch him start the 3rd quarter or come in sometime soon after that.

I think the phrase implies a level of instability or unreliability that -- so far -- is not justified based on the record.
I would agree with you if the JUCO thing hadn't worked out, and he left prematurely (either by his own decision, or with implicit or explicit "encouragement" from the host-school). But JUCO, in his case, was only meant to be for one year in the first place. It's not like he got there and didn't fit in (to the contrary).
Only once has he backed out of a situation in which he could've stayed: he was at Washington and then decided he didn't want to be at Washington, even though he had 3 years of eligibility left. At that point, it was a question of switching to another FBS-level program but (probably) sitting out a year, or else dropping down to non-FBS and getting a year of on-the-field experience, albeit against lesser competition. He chose the latter option, under the influence of his father if I had to guess.

I don't know if Nick Montana has what it takes to make it in the NFL or not. I'm sure he is hoping for that. For this season at least, he just needs to be an effective QB in C-USA.

His brother Nate was playing for WV Wesleyan. He walked on to Notre Dame but apparently that didn't work out.
Those boys seem to move around.

Nate Montana also played at Montana, at ND twice (2 different chances) and at Pasadena City College, whatever that is.

2009--Pasadena City College
2010--ND
2011-Montana
2012--West Virginia Wesleyan.

Drew Allen, Syracuse QB. 5th year player who sat behind Sam Bradford and Landry Jones at Oklahoma. Graduated OU and transferred to Cuse ala Greg Paulus. I see a season close to Nassib's of last year if his OL is as good. Coach said he threw it 70 yards while being pressured in practice.
