RE: ESPN's Big East Lookahead/Predictions
The only prediction I'll make is that Seton Hall will not finish last. I'll climb back off the limb now.

Georgetown returns four starters and you concur with 6th? Really?
As does Butler, I believe. If Smith can get his weight under control and stay there, then the Hoyas should compete for the top spots in the league. If Whittington somehow recovers from the injury and Smith is playing well, I think GU will be better than last year's team. That said, there are enough question marks to justify placing GU in the toss-up 4-7 range..

But only 1 of those 4 that anyone is scared of. Creighton's D is going to have take a big step up to compete for the top 3 spots.

Butler loses Rotnei Clarke and Andrew Smith. Two pretty darn good players.

Whittington will not be back this year. He has a torn ACL.
Butler lost 2 starters AND they were there top 2 scoters + one of them was also the team's leading rebounder. To make matters worse, Butler did not recruit like Georgetown. Butler should have trouble climbing out of the Big East's lower half.

10. Seton Hall
Smith is suppose to be pretty fit now. GU will do great in the regular season, post season I'm not as confident. People under estimate Buzz as a coach but he is actually pretty good with the talent/experience that he has to work with.
Buzz is as good as you say he is, but there are some other pretty good coaches in this league too. And a lot of them will be working with more talent and experience than Buzz will be this year.

1) Xavier - Should be much improved offensively with a lot more depth than last year and defensively this will be a very strong team. Also you have a potential top 10 pick in a deep NBA draft next year.
2) St. Johns - talent and they put it together this year
3) Marquette - Buzz Williams
4-7 is pick'em
4) Villanova
5) Creighton
6) Georgetown
7) Providence
8) Butler
9) Seton Hall
10) DePaul
Buzz has used up his eligibility, so he will be unable to play this year.
I like a guy who isn't afraid to pick his school to win it all.

I have no dog in the fight and I think you have it right.
No dog in this fight? I thought that you had the under dog. That would be Seton Hall.

Glad we have that out of the way. For a minute there I thought we might be pretty good.

I just find it downright magical that all of Marquette's issues going forward don't amount to anything more than noise, but we're an open and shut case.
It's probably the way you state opinion as fact that makes it so. I'll have to try that.

I'm officially dropping Butler down to 9th or 10th spot in the Big East standings. Rude awakening to the show.
