LOL!! I give App. State some credit because they have some big program wins against FBS programs. But you are correct when speaking of GSU, what a joke and not a single win against any FBS opponent ever!

The funny thing is they think they are hurting our feelings when they call us out for never winning an outright championship of this conference. All they're doing is making themselves look foolish.

I can't wait to see Ga Southern get worked in this conference in their first year or two.

Just wanted to point out that it's just 1 GSU fan, not all of us. One fan who is ignored by several GSU fans on our own board.

Just making sure that's been pointed out.

I hope the membership of the SBC will stay together for several years but if ULL leaves I wish them the best. As a Ga. Southern fan I am excited to see how we can do in the SBC. It is a little of a downer to join a conference and read numerous posts by 1 of the members (ULL) about wanting to leave, but it is what it is.

It remains to be seen what we can do in this conference. I have no doubt some of our supporters will have a dose of reality in the next few years but I would rather enter the conference with the feeling we should win every game than with the feeling that we should be happy with 2-3 conference wins a year for our first few years.

I agree. Extremely excited about the potential of the SBC. While the newbies perhaps are louder than we should be, one member school's fans should wait a couple years before they get their panties in a bunch.

How about the Cajuns try to win the conference one time before announcing you are too good for the league? Never seen a group that hung out in the cellar so many years have a good season and suddenly they are too good for the conference. That is all I am saying.

And I am very glad to be here and look forward to making the league better than CUSA on the field.

How about the Eagles win one game in the Sun Belt before we actually care to listen to your advice? And I never seen a group that has zero resume or history of success against the FBS division run their collective mouths wiithout any accomplishments in the Sun Belt.

I'm sure you are happy to be in the Sun Belt, but how about improving your performance over your previous conference against FBS programs before proclaiming to make the Sun Belt better then CUSA?

If my team has two good seasons after 20 years of a winning 35% of your games not sure I'd have the same attitude.

I get it you, I wasn't excited about Elon or Samford when they joined the SoCon. The difference is those programs didn't have winning traditions. They didn't have attendance, season ticket sales, donation levels, and large fanbases compared to us. We will likely lose 50% of our conference games the first two years, but you are going to be surprised by the caliber of program the Sun Belt has and the passion our fanbase has for our Mountaineers.

We only play top BCS teams and perform as good or better than the Cajuns. We almost never play G5 teams.

Let me know when the Cajuns beat a team ranked in the top 25 as the BCS teams we usually play are ranked in the top 10.

Big Ten expansion: It isn't done. That's about all I can say. Hint: The conference will begin negotiating on a new TV deal next year. The current contract expires in 2016. Definitely stay tuned.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...media-days

I really hope UL and ASU will be playing in CUSA next year.

Depending on who goes away, I doubt it happens. Rice and USM are at the top of that list. If rice goes, grab TXST. USM, and I would take USA. Honestly Depending on how it is looking, CUSA might stand pat at 12.
Many current CUSA members would want to stay at 12 for the simple reason that they'd each get a larger share of the conference payout. Still, I think ULL and ASU would have a shot if former SBC members NT, FIU, MT, FAU, and WKU want them, but I have no idea where they stand on the issue.
I really don't think CUSA schools care about losing less than $200,000 if there are programs out there that can potentially make the conference better.

I'm cool with staying at 12 if CUSA lost two, but I wouldn't be angry if CUSA grabbed more teams either. I'd personally rather see us pull from the MAC if possible for the simple reason that it would give the conference exposure in Ohio which is the best recruiting state in the midwest.

I honestly hope things stay as they are for the next 10 years or so though.

MAC teams aren't leaving, based on simple geography.

Perhaps when CUSA renogiates through TV deal, they and SBC will see that a rational alignment would be to exchange eastern and western teams for travel purposes. But egos will course get in the way.

Timeout...let's back up here. Is an FCS team telling us Cajuns, a team that has been D-1A since D-1A was a thing, that we need to step up our game? What? The teams we play that are in the BCS normally pay us to be there. And they pay well too. But it's teams like us that make BCS teams scared to schedule SBC teams for money games...so they take a step down. Realize something my friend...YOU ARE THE STEP DOWN. Let that sink in for a second....

Here is something else to think about...you aren't the first 1-AA powerhouse to make the leap...many have done that before you. None of them have done anything close to the pipe dreams you have in your head. So let's come back to Earth a bit...Georgia Southern and App State will struggle mightily. It's one thing to show up one Saturday and play with the big boys and think you can do it regularly...it's a completely different ball game when you actually do it. Your best case scenario is to pull a Western Kentucky. They are a fast riser in every aspect of football. Your worst case scenario...ULM. Chances are you fall somewhere in the middle of that. It's not BCS party crashing in either extreme. Sorry to burst your bubble, but someone has to.

We Cajuns are a proud lot...we have dealt with struggles and hardships no one should ever have to deal with. Those days seem to be over. Our once painful athletic department has given way to a new breed of Cajuns that are no longer anyone's doormat. Look at the preseason rankings...people out there know our name now. Time will tell if we can produce to those expectations...but if the past two seasons have taught me anything...it's to "Hold on to the rope" and enjoy the ride. You can bring up anything you want to about our past and yours...it means nothing. Where we were and where we are headed is night and day. The same can be said for Georgia Southern and App State...but remember...YOU ARE THE STEP DOWN.

Actually, other than Marshall, I would think GSU and App are the only powerhouses to make the move. Please list all other powerhouses, their records, championships, and W-L for the 4-5 years prior to the move. Western Kentucky was good with some really good years, but they were by NO MEANS an FCS powerhouse.

Best case scenario... a team that was almost winless for a few years once they transitioned? Hell nah, brother. I can promise you right now the Georgia Southern Eagles will have a respectable first few years in the league. There won't be any of this 1-10 2-0 nonsense, I can guarantee you that.

Saint3333, if you go back and read this thread you will find I gave App. State much credit for at least having some landmark wins over FBS programs.

Your comment concerning the 35% win percentage has some ignorance attached to it because it suggest that UL has never had back-to-back winning seasons, an ignores Big West Championships and other successful season.

I’m not sure I would be lecturing any program that had the forethought, courage or at least attempted to fund a Div 1A or FBS program, while taking the cheaper path until recently. At this point, you guys are nothing more than a name on a list of members that has accomplished absolutely nothing for this conference. UL has established a good football program, basketball program, baseball and softball programs in this conference and has earned its keep.

Bottom-line, we don’t need your permission or approval to post our opinions on this website. We have been members long before you began posting and if you don’t like what our fans post, then simply ignore it.

Thanks for your thoughtful insight!

We made a bowl in 3 years of FBS football. That is what he is saying. Or you can wallow in defeat for a decade (ULM).
