1) Having an inexhaustible supply of cash can get you off just about anything.
2) Judges are politically appointed and increasingly political in their rulings.
3) Jury nullification is almost never explained the jury.
4) The jury consists of average Americans selected at random. I don't know if you've seen what we've elected the last few decades ... but a random sampling of people who think Congress is doing a good job or that Obama is great or that Dubya is great ... that's terrifying.
5) Sentencing is often the product of gung ho prosecutors looking to make a name for themselves by being tough on crime. Life for three counts of marijuana possession? GTFO.
6) The police have ENORMOUSLY swing the balance of power and burden of proof. The NSA already has all your **** tapped. A cop can say keywords to get a dog to alert and bam he can search you instantly without real cause. And if they really want to avoid hearing from you, they'll just break you door down, throw in a flashbang, then run a military style MOUT campaign in your living room in full paramilitary gear with fully automatic assault rifles, shoot your pets, and shoot you with the claim of "HE WAS COMIN' RIGHT FOR US!". The police union will assure no statements are made. The cops will get "punished" with paid desk time or leave for a few days. And life moves on.
7) The media is more interested in what Lindsey Lohan is stuffing in her nose and ****** than anything remotely resembling investigative journalism.
you make your point as delicately as ever.

I see that an overwhelming consensus agree that justice is neither the goal or the outcome of the judicial system.
And frankly, I surprised that no one said that our judicial system is the best in the world even with it's faults. It has the potential to be the best or the worst.

Civil, Criminal, Divorce?
Depends. On simpler matters, the process is still pretty good, but at the elite levels
There is all kinds of fraud that no one seems to care about, but is eating us alive (banks "mark to market," robo-signing, etc). There's the Federal Reserve blatantly violating both its mandate and the Constitution. There's all kinds of political scandals that if we were looking at honestly, should results in a lot of politicians being kicked out, but instead we put on the red/blue blinders and see things as an us vs. them regardless of evidence (rarely even willing to seriously consider that our guy did serious crimes). There's rewards for entering the country illegally instead of following the process layed out. There's lot of ignoring the law to help out friends (the GM/Crystler bankruptcies went against a 100 years of bankruptcy law for one example, the federal government ignoring clearly cooked books is another).
That doesn't even get into someone like Snowden who told the truth after his boss essentially lied to Congress (an actual crime). Note: Snowden going into details espionage is another matter that is far more questionable and I won't defend him for.
In short, no

The Justice system is all we have in America. When a disproportionate amount of minorities are in prison however, it makes you wonder how fair it is.
What if Zimmerman were black and Treyvon were white?
Would it have turned out any different?

The only difference is we would not have heard about the trial until the acquittal.

So what you are saying is that if a black man had followed and shot an unarmed white teenager, no one would have heard about it?
I doubt that.

I honestly think no one would've heard about it. There would've been no contemplation about whether or not to send him to jail. They just would've sent him.

Instead of just looking at the ethnic makeup of the prison population and stating that a disproportionate amount of minorities call it home, why don't you ask, when compared to everyone else, why a disproportionate amount of minorities commit crimes?
