So I'm not sure what announcement anybody should be looking for.

This isn't like "hiring" Hal Mumme and there being no announcement.

Yep. Have already had numerous threads beating this topic to death. And this is just another one asking the same old....And you're going to get numerous more.

Yep, for me it's "misery loves company." I wonder if someone is holding back or I have missed something, and I wonder if people still care. I guess most are more patient in waiting it out. As I have said before, my daily routine puts me in the path of too many Ole Dirty fans who can't leave it alone. It's almost like my JMU gear is a scarlet letter, except it's the letters "CAA" or "FCS".

What's the hold up?

From Sun Belt commissioner Karl Benson in June:

So; whether it is all sports or just football, unless something is secretly going on with the MAC or the AAC does something unexpected to upset the current balance, JMU is not going to hear/announce anything until early next year.

My issue is when every other peer institution was doing these same evaluations over the last five years, why did we wait? Why did we not see the urgency? Why spend all the money we spend (out spending dozens and dozens of FBS programs) to not keep pace with your peers?

I can't think of one other peer institution that has our facilities, our demographics, and our budget/resources, that waited as long as we did to show any initiative.

I have already posted more on this thread as I have in the last month. Few people seem to like when a girl starts talking sports on the message boards so I have said my peace and leave it at that.

I actually love your posts, and I don't believe there is any gender prejudice here whatsoever. And I agree with every point you have made on this topic. It is mind-blowing to me not only why our admin has waited sooooooo long to get off their asses, but WHY was the fan base kept and is still being kept completely in the dark? The NSA has nothing on our admin. They know how to keep secrets. Like you, Dolley, I am losing my fandom for JMU sports as a result.

Delaware has been down this road several times and realized the finances would not mesh in such a small state with their institutional goals. Carr is no idiot and he has made it clear that philanthropy at the highest level is a basic necessity beyond current student fee subsidies and no one at the BOV level is biting on writing that type of check. I am thrilled Alger is treating this as seriously as he is. There's tons at stake & I can never remember seeing any names of millionare advocates. There-in lies our issue.

Take a thorough look at their former clients and what has occurred as a result. It's not that difficult but sometimes you have to look at the details. Their reports lack detailed insight. Hell, look at their ridiculously amateur website. It characterizes JMU as division I-AAA. Nice attention to detail. And, they list JMU as the first client under that category. However, they haven't completed anything for JMU yet. Any professional consulting firm doesn't list qualifications until it has actually done something. Then I look at the personnel. The qualifications of these people aren't impressive at all.

I'll accept that. I was simply wondering if you were pulling your opinion out of thin air. But, clearly you were not. Thanks!

No, it lists JMU under the category of FCS / I-AAA. Div. I-AAA is the common designation given to Div. I schools that don't have football.
