We lost 5 games last year by 7 points or less.

No one was going to win at Marshall from 2005-2011. We did not have a full 85 scholarships. At one point we was almost playing with IAA scholarship limit, we was at 67 scholarships in 2006. The new president of the NCAA hit us with a 30 scholarship reduction because we had a rouge booter giving athletes jobs and paying more than what they consider a fair wage. And we had 3 players in a class where the instructor used Old Tests as study guides. Something places like USC, UNC, Miami get away with every year but Marshall doesn't make millions for the NCAA.

When DOC Holliday got to Marshall in 09 we didn't have depth at all, that's been taken care of now. Last year Marshall ranked 6th in O- and the number 1 passing team in the nation. Rakeem Cato threw for 4,201 yards. We avged 40.6 points per game. But we had one of the worst DC in the nation in Chris Rippon. Its hard to stop people on 3rd and 4 when you play your safeties and LBs 10 yards off the ball.

Wow! I don't like being the smart-alecky grammar police, but that post says a lot about MU. Perhaps I am not being fair; it was an informative post. I think the sarcasm of the posters from JMU have had a great influence on me- no grace, jaded, and full of sarcasm in just 3 short months.

Now now, I rather enjoyed the idea of a red cheeked (rouge) booster doing illegal things with players. 04-cheers

I can't even follow this.

"No one was going to win at Marshall from 2005-2011." Really? By my count, MU got their asses handed to them on a frequent basis at MU during that stellar period in your program's history--I believe 14 losses. But considering MU pimps themselves out so much to break even, I'm not surprised they have only 14 "home" losses since they don't play at home all that often. And if you take out the spankings you received from WVU and Central Florida, and the 10 point loss to Purdue, then yeah you lost 4 games last year by 7 or less. So, 4 equals 5 by MU math.

I also wouldn't come on here giving scholarship limitation excuses. Your school violated the rules.

He's saying no matter who was coaching Marshall during that time period, it would be extremely difficult to win due to the NCAA punishments. Having a severely reduced number of scholarships is a pretty good excuse for losing. Whether or not the school broke the rules is irrelevant in this matter.

There is so much truth to that statement it's frightening. UNC and Oregon being the most recent examples.

Marshall is an academically lower tier university...they can get anyone in and keep him in school with a barrage of farcial courses. Why JMU would

I don't come on message boards to go to English class. BTW JMU fans better sit tight cause I really don't see them moving up anytime soon.

Any reason we should take your thoughts any more seriously than that crackpot Huntington paper reporter?

What is the story behind Bourne and Yeager?

Boy, if you read stuff enough on here you begin to believe it. Rose didn't want anything to do with moving to 1A football. Bourne worked at Rose's command. Bourne has wanted to move our program up for some time. He now has a President that is open to exploring the possibilities; hence the report Carr and Associates will be delivering soon. Stayed tuned.

If there was a like button on here like Facebook, BSBK, I would give your post a like, lol! Your post is the truth!
