I lived in Lafayette from June 95 till July 06. I love the city and the people there and even took classes at ULL. With that being said I attended only 2 ULL athletic events. I was at the ULL Texas AM game when ULL stunned AM 29-22 and a ULL Marshall basketball game where Marshall destroyed the Cajuns 83-59. I was the only 1 there dressed in Green and White, the Marshall bench spotted me right away.

ULL and Ark States only move to move up is to CUSA. If CUSA really wanted to have destroyed the Sun Belt they would have taken both a few months ago. ULL, Ark State and Troy are the only 3 schools giving the Sun Belt credibility in football now.

Troy isn't doing too well right now.

Good thing we're not UNT, or we'd scurry off to I-AA and try to overcompensate by adding another mascot.

Tulane would have the only chance at B12 out of this state because of media market and they are far from getting an invite

Just a booster. He's also about 7- 10 years late in making that proclamation.
Probably could've made his point without naming names.
That being said, USM, like others, would like to move up - assuming there is an up.
I guess most USM fans just want to be with our old conference mates.
If not, just strive to be the best overall athletic program possible, and continue to be a solid conference member in C-USA.

You could light my hair on fire, and I'd still care far more about getting out of CUSA than I'd care about the fire.

NO media market is not as good as it used to be, but that is a recruiting hotbed

Their an established IA program now. I said this after the 2010 season though, Larry Blakeney should have retied then. His last 3-4 recruiting classes have been disastrous.

I wish like Hell Andre Where and Eager Eagle would carry their U-know-what's out of here. I have a tremendous amount of respect and reverence for what USM has done for themselves as a program and I hate what they do to the reputation of loyal true eagle fans on this board. Yeah, Carlisle said out loud what every Big shot alum at every school in a non-AQ school has thought or said behind closed doors, but that doesn't give you carte blanch to go trashing other schools and claiming what he says is gospel. I don't like some of the schools in our new conference, but I'm not going to go out and maliciously slam them. Just take a step back and realize that the current cast of CUSA members is not going to change for 10 years and try to enjoy some good Football. OR carry your A$$.

I know the market is bad but we do offer give the Big XII a footprint in the southeast. Yes that could be said of Memphis and Tulane but we have a rich tradition of winning. On another note, I've said this before win or lose to the new schools this coming season doesn't negate what we have accomplished in our years as a CUSA school. No disrespect but just my feelings.

Only an idiot would try to make a claim like that. USM has always been a cornerstone of this conference.

Being a damn proud 6'th generation Texan with a few historic family ties to pre-Republic and then the Republic of Texas I just cannot publicly say on a family-oriented forum like this my first thoughts when I think about the state of Missisiissiisiiisisisisipppppiiiiisisisiiiippis. double hump back back hump or however the hell that spelling thing goes with that state. AND..........it's with the white population of that state which inspires those less than positive thoughts, too.

0 and 12 last Fall, too? What do they do for an encore of............THAT? :(

In your best Boss Hog white suit, Colonel Carlisle, go back to sipping on your mint juleps while you sit under your magnolia trees in that sultry humidity and have your pipe dream fantasies of the Big 12 all you want, Big Boy! That ain't going to happen for any school in CUSA or the AAC and you can mark that in 3 inch headlines, pod'nuh.

Surely that score of North Texas vs Su-u-u-u thern' Mississippi in the link at the bottom back when we had it going on and they didn't could possibly be correct, now could it?

Did You Know: There are almost 5 million more population within one hour of Apogee Stadium and the Mean Green Village than what is in Miss's entire state's population of 2.8 million?

When North Texas gets back to its winning ways (and we will) there will be more who know about those Mean Green wins than when USM wins in their beloved Haters-burgh and in their entire state.

I personally am glad that Carlisle and others are dreaming big. No we may never see that conference but thinking creatively is what has made teams like Boise State relevant and I think we should pursue after goals like there's. We did have a Summit conference meeting with their AD last year to try and establish goals after their model.

I like UNT. I've had two very good friends from H.S. attend UNT. They are very successful musicians. You have very, very pretty ladies as well. The director of your famous jazz band went to USM. Just like our percussion director went to UNT.

Music & the Arts are one thing...we strike a peace on this ground. You have not a candle to hold against USM in athletics from a historical standpoint though. The future may hold otherwise, IMO. You certainly do have a better market.

USM has remained idle far too long, and who knows what opportunity may open up in the future? It is a disservice to USM fans everywhere to be unprepared.

I will be the first to admit that I know little about the history of USM football. What I have read sounds great and glorious. To me it sounds like USM's President Carlisle was somewhat playing to the crowd, whilst they had checkbooks in hand, in order to generate some income. There's nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with trying to better the athletic position of the university which you lead, however it does seem like doing so in the press is not very wise. He probably could have said what he did to the fat cats in private, without stirring up rancor amongst USM's conference mates. He may not like the ambiance, nonetheless sh!tting where he eats will do nothing to improve it.

Bigot, huh? Hatin' on folks 'cause of where they live is defined as bigotry. I'm thinking the media has a lot to do with your hatred 'cause if you looked at factual history, 1800 - 1960's Texas and Texans don't achieve any higher standard than same time period Mississippians.

Jealousy pokes it's head out in unusual ways sometimes but hatin' on Mississippi because of historical Mississippi is one of the most common. You're not the first who's shown ignorance and I doubt you'll be the last.
