RE: High School GPA question
Not sure if related but I would recommend any HS senior applying to JMU to take a lot of AP/IB's. I was rejected from high school because I only took 1 AP course. Luckily, I got in as a transfer though. Good luck to all.

Also, here's a pic I took 2 years ago before I graduated. Nice view of the quad.

What I'd be interested in hearing are some numbers and stats of Male vs. Female with regards to Honors program. We need smart young men at JMU. These are the ones most likely to give back. Are they choosing JMU?

Yeah, people can try to be PC all they like but mostly, it's males that give back. I don't know a single female I went to school with who has even thought of giving back to JMU. Not one.

Many more females in Honors. We are working on it. JMU has something called the Dingledine scholarship and it's given to 6 well-deserving incoming freshmen. Of the 24 Dingledine scholars, most (approx. 21-22) are young women. The Dingledine requirements are great grades and SATs as well as community service/leadership. As a general rule, most guys that have the grades and SATs don't have the service/leadership component. The guys are getting STEM scholarships. Hopefully ISAT and engineering will get more guys to apply for scholarships.

RE: High School GPA question
I graduated from the Honors Program in 2012, and if you wanted an estimate based on my Honors Seminars and others that were writing theses with me, I would guess there was about a 25:75 male:female ratio in my Honors classes.
