Fuente and Pastner ought to love this deal. Recruits don't give a **** how much money your contract is worth --- they want to know when and especially where they'll be on TV. Pastner, especially, should love this TV deal.

This article from the same source as GA's, mentions Memphis as the favorite for the men's basketball tournament

The original poster needs to read up on the conference brand standard.

Yeah, I think Aresco is slowly losing the PR battle to Martin and Bowen.

I'm confused. The 2nd paragraph says our deal is with ESPN and CBS. The 4th paragraph mentions games on ESPN and ABC.

Is this a typo?

No. First, ABC owns ESPN. But the contract is with ESPN. So, most games (both sports) will be on ESPN, but a few select better games will be shown on ABC.

Meanwhile, CBS owns a small part of the BB contract (it has for years, and renewed, just as ESPN did), and has its pick of up to 12 basketball games, to be aired over the main CBS network only (not CBS Sports Network).

One other note: This contract doesn't start until 2013-14 BB season. The 2013 FB contract is still under the old TV deal.

Not confusing at all if you look at whole thing in context. The second part says 60% of games will be on either ESPN or ABC. That means 40% will be on other networks such as CBS.

Someone needs to send Aresco that Wolken article in today's USAToday. 04-rock

The best feature of the article was a pic of Pastner in an Orlando paper rather than the UCF coaches.

No. First, DISNEY OWNS ABC who owns ESPN. But the contract is with ESPN. So, most games (both sports) will be on ESPN, but a few select better games will be shown on ABC.

I don't think so. I think it means a handful of games will be on CBS and probably 35% or more will be either not televised or carried locally. I don't think CBS is going to pick up more than 10 games per year.

As I recall the CBS deal is 12 games a year and they get first selection. Seeing that CBS gets the best 12 games I'd think they'll use the full 12.

CBS gets 12 appearances a year. Could be as few as 6 AAC games.

You're closer to right, I think. Exact details have not been clarified publicly yet, but I think ESPN or ABC will televise 60%+ of ALL AAC BB games, including all conference games, and approximately 23 OOC home games.

In addition, CBS will air up to 12 of the best BB games. The remaining AAC OOC games (essentially Tier 3) will be sold to some network(s) to farm out regionally.

In football, ESPN will air 90% of ALL CONFERENCE GAMES. The remaining games will likely be on regional networks TBD.

NOTE. The FB portion of the new TV deal does not start until 2014. This coming season will be under the old ESPN/Big East contract.

Yeah, it's really 6-12 games, depending on how many AAC teams appear in each game. CBS gets first choice over ESPN/ABC. Regular season only. ESPN/ABC has every game in the conference tourney.
