However, Georgia Southern does seem to have the largest number of irritating fans. I like some of them that aren't douches, but there seems to be plenty of them that are.
We enjoyed playing your guys all time best effort, and I'm sure when we meet again, it will again be the same. You know you caught us when we were down,it happens, but its just a matter of time until we meet again. You'll take two weeks to prepare, and play the hardest you have ever played, and if you win,so be it.We have come a long way from expecting to crush all opponents, and have learned to accept defeat. We understand that beating Georgia Southern is a milestone for most programs, congratulations guys,it will not be the norm.I'm sorry I irritate a lot of people on these boards, but sometimes the truth is a bitter pill for some to swallow.
It's sweet of you to believe that it was our all time best effort.
The truth was... you just weren't that good that year. We were better. It happens. The win against you was special for us because it was in the playoffs. But truth be told the bigger win was against Cal Poly, because it was further into the playoffs. If we hadn't screwed the pooch and won against Northern Iowa, that would have been our special win.
But why would we bother to take two weeks to prepare for you? I hate to break it to you, but you just aren't that important. You'll get the same amount of preparation as every other FBS team on our schedule gets.
I think this is the biggest issue folks have with Georgia Southern: You have this delusion that you are special and that you should be feared. You aren't and you shouldn't. When you reach FBS, you'll be just another team. You'll be the Automatic W for the big teams, and you'll be solid competition against your conference mates. That's all.
To sum up, you aren't anything special. And your incessant chest thumping isn't the truth you are preaching. It's just the annoying gnat flying around people's ears.
I can agree with the fear part but the fact is that Georgia Southern is kind of special because of the accomplishments in such a short period of time. I dont no of any team that won more games in a 25 year period than GSU. Maybe there is but 6 NC and 8 showings and almost every year in the playoffs in a 20 year span and a program that started from scratch in 1981 with no money is kind of special. Like them or not. No other football program in the country has produced that much success in such a short period considering the circumstances in which they did it. Now I understand that this is a new era for Georgia Southern moving to the SB so the past success doesnt equal success as far as SB football is concerned, but I would say that GSU's program is kind of special, and I bet most people that know college football and can be honest would agree too.

Forgive me for scoffing at the arrogance coming from a team that's only managed to beat us once in the past 5 years.
Stay classy.
The playoff brackets were setup to give us a couple more games the past couple of years, but App could not manage to get out of the first round. Could have been a classic. We did our part. Oh well.
It's time for you to join the rest of the world in not giving a **** about the FCS playoffs. Blocked PAT's against ISU aside, we own you.

You can own all you want but what really matters is National Championships. I would rather own those. You see what Im getting at here?

I would TOTALLY agree (and have told friends the same when referencing Georgia Southern) about Georgia Southern being special IF you had stayed in FCS. In FBS though, the national championships mean little. As of RIGHT NOW, playoffs mean "small ball" football.
Like it or not, you are leaving your history behind. Now you have a chance to build a new history for your program. But sorry, in FBS you aren't special.

We said the same thing when NDSU moved to FCS after dominating Division II. Well, they moved up and began dominating FCS pretty quickly.

You guys would have beaten NDSU at Fargo last year if you had had a decent uninjured kicker.
Was a good try taking the soccer player a couple of days before the game and making him
a kicker, but just not enough experience for him in a situation like that.

They mean little. You won them because a team needs more than a week to learn to defend your novelty, high-school offense.
Not to mention we're big boys now. No need to drag out the JV trophies.

National championships solely because of the offense. If only you had started a thread years ago and shared this information, other programs could have copied us.

No amount of trophies could make up for subjecting a fan base to the most boring kind of football imaginable.

Apps national Title offense is called Armanti Edwards. You still thanking the Lord every night during your bedtime prayers? You guys have a statue built for him yet?

I'm sure having him on our commit list while we won it in '05 really made it happen for us.

Hard to believe it took until 2005 for App to make it to a title game. We had been to 8 before App's first. I guess that shows how tough it is to get to the title game.

In essence we play between 10 and 15 championship games per year, because we get each teams best effort plus the grudge of wanting to defeat Georgia Southern at all cost.
So, after doing a little research, i found that not a single team took a bye before facing Georgia Southern in 2012. Just a little research. I guess that's why you guys'll never become a research university; you seem to not understand what it means.

lol. Alright, let's do that. Lets see, hmm. 2011; not a single team took a bye week prior to playing Georgia Southern. Hmm. How about 2010? WE HAVE A WINNER!! SAMFORD TOOK A BYE BEFORE GEORGIA SOUTHERN IN 2010! Oh wait. Samford BEAT Georgia Southern in 2010... So good job there... Nobody took a bye before southern in 2009. 2008? Well, Northeastern took a bye before Georgia Southern, and so did Furman. So, congrats, in 2008 2 people took bye's before you. But lets take into account that Furman is a conference game and the SoCon set up the schedule, i'm gonna wager that they didn't schedule it to "put forth their best effort."
Lets recap; in the past 5 years, 3 teams have had bye weeks before Georgia Southern, 2 of those were conference games (and therefore out of the hands of the schools), meaning only one school could possibly have scheduled you after their bye "to prepare to play us,and put forth the best effort they will play all year." The last time any school took a bye week before you was 2010, three seasons ago. I'd hardly say you play 10-15 championship games per year. I'm gonna go ahead and rank this one "pants on fire" and call you an idiot at the same time.

Funny you were the one talking about records and wins! And if you played any football you would know that what you do on the field does not matter what matters is winning, and the bottom line is winning championships. Just go ask your players for App St and see what they say.
