What a strange world we live in, when football-stadiums take priority over public safety as a government priority.

Does the public get to vote on this? I'm guessing no.

Atlanta should tell the Falcons to F off. What other city would take them if they're demanding an expensive new stadium?

There's a reason there are no teams in LA.

True. But that won't stop the NFL from trying once a new stadium is done.

I don't watch pro sports any longer. I really have lost interest. I do watch golf but even they are trying to **** it up (Tiger at the Masters).
It's sad these clowns can't invest in people and the kids in the area. They would rather try to out do the last person and build a bigger stadium for knucklehead over paid dopes to run around in.

Part of the agreement includes Blank spending considerable amounts of money in the communities around the stadium (now, I know throwing money at things doesn't fix it, but it's not being ignored).
As far as publicly financed stadiums go, Atlanta got a pretty damn good deal. And the money is coming from tourist taxes which were collected just for something like this. I also don't see Atlanta putting more money into this pot. Their part of the funding was to ensure that Blank didn't move them to the 'burbs like he threatened.
All that said, I see nothing wrong with the GA Dome, and am against public funding (except possibly infrastructure) for ventures like this. Blank threw his hefty weight around, Atlanta pushed back, and they got the deal that made both sides happy.
Regarding the designs. I've followed stadium development casually for a while now. Neither of these designs will be used. But I'd guess it would be something closer to the 2nd one (looks similar to old Vikings proposals). It'll have a view of the skyline, the ability to be SUPER open, and also much easier to morph as times change.... than the origami design.

If you're talking about the owners, Blank is very charitable. He spends a lot of money on children and public spaces in and around Atlanta.
