This has always been our hood...You guys are just the new people who moved in who are desperately trying to get jumped in.
The good news is that once you guys figure out how things work, you'll be good members.

I think we've ended up in pretty decent shape.
Idaho and NMSU still give me heartburn but I've got no problem with stAte, UL, Troy, USA, TXST, App St, GaSo and as long as Monroe continues to slay giants they are a positive. Georgia State has work to get done.
We have one slot to fill and hopefully can lasso the right choice.

If this is where we sit for a bit, I'm happy with it. Not greatly excited about Idaho, but it is what it is. I am happy with the adds, I think we gained more then we lost honestly.
Let the games begin.

Still wondering who that last entry will be.

Please. So much of what I've read here since we joined is sour grapes from ULL, and to a lesser extent ASU, about how they want to leave.
I, for one, am glad you're "stuck" with us. When I look at the memberships of the 2014 editions of cUSA and the belt, I like the belt's chances to come out on top.

This is tougher for the UL people. They are more social animals than we are.
Best way to solve that is for the newbies to get up to speed and do some damage OOC pretty fast.

ULL fans have been bad about it, but they have gotten better the last couple weeks. There have only been one or two ASU fans actively begging. Our board is still rather lukewarm about this entire mess. We plan on winning whatever league we play in anyway. In the end, we'll move if ULL moves.

Well, we would tell them that it would be easier for them to win the Belt, but that only applies to 2014, so we wouldn't want to lie to them.

RE: Looks like CUSA's done for now
The more I've thought about it, Georgia State is not a bad add at all. A lot of people aren't crazy about them and most of those people think only of football, but they are a good add. They will get better in football!! And their Olympic sports are pretty good. I suspect they will come in and compete for Bubas Cups right away. That might surprise some folks, but they will be near the top. Their tennis is good. Their golf is good. Their track programs are good. Their basketball isn't as bad as they played last year and I imagine they will rebound (no pun intended). Their football will get better. Overall they are probably one of our best additions. If their football was better they'd be the "darling" of the adds. Hopefully they can improve football and help us build the conference.

That statement is obsurd. You guys are not connected, if ULL were to get invited to AAC or C-USA and you guys were not, you would still be in the SBC. You can't go anywhere if there is no where to go, unless you decided to go independent. Good luck with that.
stAte and ULaLa fans, guys, back off the ledge. It's only college sports, we get it, trust me, we all get it. But it is time to acccept where you are, and who you are. The SBC is no different then C-USA, MWC, MAC or the AAC. We all have the same benefits and short comings. I'm sure a bowl game out there somewhere will attempt to get a "Championship Game" type set up with the Gof5 over the next couple of years.
Hopefully Idaho will be very short term and you guys will get a a closer acceptable team soon.

They catch a lot of crap but they have a lot of potential. They at least have as much potential as Charlotte and at least have enough of a head start on them to have figured out just how tough FBS is actually going to be. If they ARE able to pull it together they'll be a real asset to the league.

I don't see any way our administration stays in the SBC without ULL. They are our last original rival left in the league.
To be clear, I hope we don't move.

Agree, due to our similarities in philosophy. I also think some of the new members are potentially better than some of them we lost.
All in all, I'm not sure that we have been that bad about it when you analyze the situation. Over time, schools you develop a relationship with become fan favorites. When all of a sudden 4-5 of them vanish from your schedules, practical matters like ticket sales come to mind. Makes you want to grab a life preserver and not lose what you had developed.
If you are an FCS school in transition you want new FBS rivals.

Awww, you guys! lol
May be overstating our all-sports prowess a bit, but it's not as dogged as our football program would lead some to believe. Basketball is much better than people realize. Seriously, watch out next season. And football won't be bad for much longer. I hope. Oh dear God, how I hope!

App and Southern better step up fast and not embarrass the conference by losing to FCS schools right out the gate. We're stuck with you, and when you look back, we ALL look bad. I think this conference is betting on football, which is cool with me considering it's the biggest revenue sport. Let's sit on our 11 FBS schools and not rush and get a sucky 12th football member just so we can rig up a conference championship game. Next step is to make NMSU join in all sports, and then try to get rid of Idaho.

We are a little different having had no in-state rival and having been in the wilderness for a while. Who we are in a conference with and who our opponents are has been less important to our fan base than what we are doing.
So I understand UL's greater desire for rivalries.
But were FIU/FAU/UNT/MTSU/WKU really big rivalries for UL? Had they really developed into that?
FIU/FAU always felt like outliers and culturally alien to us.
UNT was either beating our tails for years on end or losing badly to us for years on end. No middle ground for rivalry to really develop.
MTSU was a nemesis that bombed us even if we were good and they were bad. More of a frustration than rival until recently.
WKU wasn't FBS long enough for us to develop a rivalry yet. It was building to it but no cigar.

If we lost to a fcs it wouldn't be the first sun belt team to do so. However, I can promise you, Georgia southern will hold up our end of the bargain.

Yeah, losing to an FCS team is bad mojo.
In fact I hope y'all don't schedule them unless they really suck.
