National World War II museum is 20 dollars but well worth it. That is probably the best single attraction outside of the French Quarter.

The cemeteries are not to miss. Lafayette #2 and St. Louis #2 are the most important ones. Lafayette #1 borders on a dangerous area and I was caught in a shoot out with 10 squad cars when trying to cut through there.

The Art Musesum in New Orleans is below average but the sculpture garden is decent with Rodin. There were a few paintings from notable artists though not any of their top pieces in the museum.

Yes, I think you're right. Scott was an athlete, though... I think he was "All State" in football in high school for at least two years.

I've always hoped they would succeed with their restaurant and whatever else they wanted to do. They're involved with Tulane and they seem to be at least semi-local.

Where are you staying? Down by the Quarter or elsewhere in the city? There are some good places in Metairie, Kenner and the West Bank as well. Neighborhood places that I'd take or Mother's or Johnny's any day of the week.

Explore the city outside the Quarter. I like driving by the mansions in the Garden District and passing by Tulane on the way to eat at Jacque-Imos. Within the Quarter, the Gumbo Shop has good gumbo...but you will pay Quarter prices (and I don't mean 25 cents)

Not married but going with the girlfriend. We are staying pretty close to the garden district.

Enjoy your trip. bourbon street is infinitely fascinating. Not sure I would want to live there, but everyone needs to see it at least once

RE: OT: New Orleans
I was down for the NO Bowl in December. You have got to try the charbroiled/chargrilled oysters at Drago's at the Hilton Riverside. It was where we stayed at and was one of the first things we did......after the 1st bite I looked at my wife and said "That one oyster was worth the trip!" Holy Smokes, it is the best single food that I have ever had!

Also on that note, all of the seafood you eat locally will not be any good after eating any in NO. I love shrimp and all that I have tried to eat since New Orleans just does not measure up!

I loved my trip there and would go again in a heartbeat, in fact if I am done with my tobacco harvest when we play at Tulane in October I am going again.......1st stop Drago's!!!!!!!!!

Y'all have fun

It's the dressing, courtesy of BP, that makes 'em extra good.

In no particular order:

Court of Two Sisters: Outstanding buffet--not for th4e faint of heart
Mulate's--You can eat while enjoying some original Cajun music!
Red Fish Grille--A little upscale
Cafe Beignet--an EXCELLENT and less crowded alternative to Cafe Dumonde
and my favorite because it's an old hole in the wall but with lot's of character-- Evelyn's Place!! Just found out Evelyn's has closed due to the death of the owner. Makes me sad because he was truly a crusty old fart. Always referred to Evelyn, who had passed several years ago, as "That Old *****"! RIP Frank!
