Exclamation Hey Charlotte Fans
How does your team look so far? Not that familiar with FCS rules but assume you have had spring practice.

I haven't really seen any reports yet from spring practices. I think there have been some write-ups on our rivals sites, but I don't have an account.

Our spring game is next Saturday, so I'm sure there will be a lot more information out there after that.

I'm a Rivals member and there has been twice weekly reports. Its kind of hard to tell how the team is doing without actually playing a game yet, but the intensity of the practices has been steadily ramped up. Pretty sure they're ready to hit someone.

Players to keep an eye on:

Larry Ogunjobi
Austin Duke
Matt Johnson
Alan Barnwell
Daniel Blitch

Word over on NinerNation.Net is that fights have been breaking out during practice so I'm sure they're ready to start hitting kids other than their teammates.

Doubt it, pretty sure they'd all rather hit someone else than each other though. No games last season and nothing but hitting each other is bound to get old.

I agree. However, our first class was before we announced our move to FBS. With the second class, and going forward, the coaches knew they had to target a different caliber player. Hopefully that works out.

Are we small even for an FCS team? I know very little about college football because I've never really had much incentive to follow it. Can't imagine many of the teams we're playing would have much size either.

Pretty much. Not TINY by FCS standards...(FCS power teams like APP are just as big as most FBS teams) but here's what I'm seeing...

Some 175lb LB's...
Some O-Lineman around 220-230lbs...
DE's, some of which are 175-200lbs...

That is a recipe for some butt-whoopings.

HOWEVER...

I also see many, many VERY big skill-position players. Some 6'4" WR's... DB's 6'0" and up... which will pose some major matchup problems for some of your opponents.

Charlotte will learn what everyone else has learned... getting the BEEF is the hardest part of recruiting. Skill players are easier to come by.

Pretty much where I expected us to be after only one recruiting class targeting FBS caliber players. Give us a couple of years and hopefully we'll have the needed "beef" by the time we get to CUSA.

Just a heads up on the DE's being 175-200 lbs, for whatever reason, our school site lists DB's as DE's (typo). I know there are some listed as DB's, but I can tell you by knowing the specific recruits that they are secondary players.

The following I know for sure were recruited and listed as CB's or DB's in recruiting:

-Tank Norman
-Greg Cunningham Jr.

The others are listed at 220 and up. However, I agree, they'll still need to add some meat.

We don't have one LB listed at 175 lbs. We have 3 listed at 195 lbs. Either way, some of these kids get two years, if not one, to bulk up. I'm not concerned with it at the moment.

well not compared to Nebraska, but compared to Campbell and Chowan we're probably huge.

Not worried about the first 2 years in FCS, it's our 1st and 2nd years in FBS. Getting a decent amount of transfers this next 2 years will be important.

You want fights to be happening in practice. Marshall runs some drills that are designed to get players mad.
