I took a look at the football schedule for this upcoming season and I noticed that the first home game is not until the 4th week of the season and the opponent is Northwestern State and also the Southern Miss game is on the same day as the Iron Bowl which takes away the casual fan. I also see a big plus with having both MTSU and Southern Miss as home games due to the fact that those schools are close in proximity and I can see the MTSU game developing into a pretty good rivalry game.

Then clearly we need to make Troy a home game for us.

Yep. I am bringing the whole fam to that one. Buying extra tickets.

I bet the UAB/USM is moved for TV.

Hope its a Thursday night. Maybe we can get Garth Brooks to come out of retirement to play at halftime. I will send him a tweet.

Thursday night would be a Thanksgiving night game which wouldn't be bad if you can get a nice TV spot.

IIRC Turkey Day is for NFL & no college games are played that I can remember. With the tv being w/ "another network" now vs BC$PN I wouldn't really look for many of our games to be moved to weekday games. I would assume the time might be moved to not conflict w/ the Iron Bowl though.

Texas-Texas A&M is usually the only college game on thanksgiving.

On the subject of the So. Miss game being moved, I think this might be the perfect scenario for us and C-USA.

A Black Friday afternoon or night would open up the possibility of getting a serious network to cover it regionally or nationally. The NFL has Thursday and the Iron Bowl/other big rivalries happen on Saturday. I think an espn 2 or other big network game shown across the entire east coast would be a distinct possibility and would be huge for us this season. If we are at or above .500 at the time of that game it could be a great advertisement for the new C-USA as well.

I think that for many families, Thanksgiving is a Thursday-Sunday event, visiting numerous families, long trips to see loved ones, etc. A Friday game would get TV viewers from the folks who don't want to fight the malls and ticket sales from families who live close enough to go to the game.

I remember last season Texas and TCU played the Thursday Night game on the four letter network. This season I think that the Egg Bowl has moved back to Thanksgiving night I do believe.

They don't play each other anymore. Ole Miss-Miss St. used to be on Thanksgiving, but I think that ended after last season.

Ole Miss & the Moos sometimes play on that Friday.

Texas will play someone at home every Thanksgiving. It was TCU last year.

The Egg Bowl moved to Friday after the 2006 season, and the moved to Saturday starting in 2009. The last I heard they this was the season that they were going back to Thanksgiving.
