would you feel the same way if CUSA was trying to add either Troy or South Alabama?
USM-USA ~2 hours
UAB-TROY ~2.5 hours
UAB- South ~ 4 hours
USM-TROY ~4.5 hours
South is inside USM's recruiting area.
UAB doesn't recruit mobile at all but USM has a home there.
No matter what Troy or South says, we've dominated every series with them.
UAB would be for South getting the invite but against Troy State. Because USM wouldn't want South in the same league UAB would be against them too.
Anyone that has ever dealt with Burn The Horse or Atlanta Trojan knows they don't want Troy state in their conference.
South has a bunch of Alabama and Auburn fans for their fanbase. They hire nothing but ex Bammer players for coaches and like that. I don't think they will have any success anytime soon in football.

Really? All LTU has to do is snap its fingers and its in the AAC? Highly doubtful. Unless you meant the Appalachian Athletic Conference.

Allow me to preface this by saying I am not a proponent of Troy in CUSA, nor do I see them as an even slightly realistic candidate. Having said that would you mind explaining exactly how you've dominated Troy in football? They lead the series 6-4. Also it seems a bit strange that you'd base your conference membership decisions on message board members...

we have no problem with south but troy is a no go. troy is too small and too hard to get to uab would not object if CUSA wanted to add USA unless southern miss objected.

Low budget, low enrollment, borderline academics, general lack of competitiveness in anything other than football or baseball.

The record is 4-4 in d1 football. Those other two games were our first 2 as a program versus a team that had been playing ball for 80 years. I realize that still isn't domination but were 6-0 vs them in mbb and so our overall program is much better. We've won I think 6 or 7 straight in baseball too.
I just can't stand those two guys at all and never had a good experience with any troy fan on a message board.

If CUSA goes to 16, IMO it will be Arkansas St and NMSU for all sports.
West East
UTSA Marshall
North Texas MTSU
LaTech UAB
Rice Old Dominion
UTEP Charlotte
NMSU FIU
Arkansas State FAU
Southern Miss WKU
Of course, if there was a way to keep Southern Miss in East, it would really balance the divisions.
With Southern Miss in West, it makes that the strongest division in CUSA.

Whatever man, your words were "we've dominated them in every series". I'm not defending Troy, their overall athletic program is garbage(in like eight years in the Sun Belt they have one or two championships outside of football), but you completely misrepresented the facts about "domination"

ok, I could have chosen my words better. Our overall athletic department is ahead of theirs... They've also maxed out their potential as a program. Location. Enrollment. Location.
I know you've been a mod with those two for a while so I'll let this die.

Don't sweat it man, I'm not actually upset or anything, I'm by no means Troy's biggest fan, they're a one trick pony, and their one trick hasn't been all that good the last two years. In the long run, I think they'll have good football more often than not, but to this point, there's little proof they'll ever be more than that. The new basketball arena could be the first step in a changing of the culture down there, but it's a little early to tell at this point.
The only reason I said anything in the first place was I thought it was glaringly obvious that you were glazing over the fact that their football has been as good or better than yours on a consistent basis. Memphis likes to believe they're far superior to us, despite the fact that we've beaten them like a drum in football in a series they had little interest in in the first place, in some cases outright anger that they even agreed to play in Murfreesboro in the first place, let alone multiple times, and they had such boisterous confidence when the contract was announced, that they were convinced they'd play a game or two in the series and then buyout the remainder out of boredom/pursuit of a more challenging opponent. With another victory in Murfreesboro this fall, we'll be rolling into Memphis next fall looking to make it 6-1 to close out the series.
I guess I just empathize with the Troy fans to see that kind of cockiness from a rival. I don't mind telling you that if football was literally the only thing that mattered, that I'd definitely take Troy over you guys, but that's not the world we live in. I'll absolutely take UAB as an athletic department over Troy.

RE: going to 16 would be good for UAB and USM
I have much respect for Troy, but the truth is that both stAte and UL have loads of potential and can quickly increase their budgets to a level acceptable for C-USA. Troy has a great program and has accomplished much, but they have maxed out and no longer have any potential. IMO, if C-USA is still looking at Sun Belt schools, stAte, UL, and Georgia State should be the top three, with New Mexico State(ALL SPORTS) at a distant forth.

From what has been said, NMSU is higher than 4th on C-USA's list.

While UAB holds the advantage over South Alabama in men's and women's basketball, what about baseball and softball? Let's look at the domination in those two series...
Men's Basketball: UAB leads 30-14 (68%)
Women's Basketball: UAB leads 26-13 (66%)
Baseball: USA leads 52-32 (62%)
Softball: USA leads 7-2 (78%)
