If you (or anyone) gets a chance to watch this game on reply, just watch where the referee spots the ball after each play. Keep track throughout the game & enjoy your rising blood pressure!

RE: Brady-Will He Be Extended?
Like it or not, you've got to have butts in the seats to pay the man. We had no more of them this year than with his two predecessors. I do believe that if we continue this upward momentum on the court, the Convo will start getting a crowd. I don't know what you mean when you say, "pay the man," but a 20% increase is reasonable to me until we start packing the place.

I don't want to start a conversation about the drawbacks of the Convo, because Lefty and Lou had the place pretty darn full. Let MB get it back to that level and pay him accordingly in getting there. As stated before, a negotiating point for Brady should be to address his new contract at the end of next year. We can see if some consistancy of winning will take hold and bring fans back to JMU basketball.

Hyper, I was at that game. Is it on youtube? I couldn't really see what you are talking about from the stands, plus I had my 3 year old daughter there with me. I just saw us moving the chains on that final drive and was going crazy as we scored.

Don't believe the full game's on youtube. You could order the game from the NCAA website, but it's pretty pricey IIRC. Someone had that game setup as a torrent download at some point. Maybe they could get it started again & post a link?

I spoke to Schiekman at the Spring Game. He told me the parties were very close to agreeing on a four year deal. I don't know the specifics, obviously. But, that was what Schiekman told me.

I was going to give POTUS rep points for being so funny but it looks like that's been done away with.

I agree, but it still embarrassing IMHO that we are even in a situation where we are within 2 days of our coach's contract expiring.

1 year ago there was lots of debate to keep Brady or not to keep Brady.
The one thing we all agreed upon was the worst decision was a no decision.

We went the no-decision path - the one we all said was the only way not to go!

Now, in fairness, since then, I have been educated by appropriate folks at JMU on the logic behind this and I felt better about it over the course of this season.
But again, now we are a month removed from the end of our season and still no contract. We have to be the only team in Division 1 to actually have a coach's contract not be extended or terminated days before the expiration

If JMU wants to hold the line on the contract - I respect that - but when making the offer, make this clear in negotiations. "Its take it or leave it Matt - if you don't accept by (Insert X date weeks ago), then we will have to begin a search for other candidates as this is our best and final."

Anything less is wishy washy and exposes our program to unnecessary risks.

Brady and JMU must be on a Mexican stand off right now. JMU probably wants him considering the 5 recruits (all of whom seem solid) he's about to bring in but knows that if he was really that hot of a commodity elsewhere, he would've bolted.

RE: Brady-Will He Be Extended?
Are any low- or mid-major Division I programs still searching for head coaches? If not, then Brady's negotiating position is certainly weakened. He may be able to land an assistant job at a BCS program immediately, but even that scenario is far from certain. Would Brady really walk away from an unfavorable contract if his only other near-term option is unemployment?

Even though it would probably be difficult to find a good replacement at this point, I'm starting to think that the admin may have the advantage in this situation. That assumes, of course, that Brady has no other strong, immediate job prospects.

Is it prudent to expect the accountants at JMU to negotiate a contract?

Hell they did not even read the last one.

I think this will get done within the next couple of days. Not panicking about it. Just a negotiation where both parties are trying to get some things.

RE: Brady-Will He Be Extended?
A lot of these things revolve around the subsequent budgets for the Assistants, recruiting etc. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out the "Brady" end of things was done in short order, then the details were the devil.

Would a coach like Brady at a place like JMU have an agent? Wonder if that could have an impact? I kinda doubt he would, as they typically take around 10%, I think, and that would be a sizable chunk, but who knows.
